You are Invited to Unplug

Students are saying the pandemic has made it hard to concentrate on reading and others are so attached to phones right now that they don't have the patience to read a book. This is sad and a little scary. The library has an amazing selection of books right now. Many are quick reads or books for reluctant readers. When you become engrossed in a wonderful book, technology seems less important for awhile. It's all about changing your mindset. If you've finished your work and your teacher allows, please come down, find a great book (Mrs. Wyant has some great recommendations), have a free hot chocolate or cappuccino and take some time to unplug and get away with a book.

Tis the season for a great horror story! Click the link to view our collection.

PT Pageturners is reading Paul, Big and Small

If you'd like to join us, the book is available for free on the Hoopla app from the public library. Mrs. Wyant can get you connected.

The book is awesome! It's a story of Paul who is very short and is bullied. He keeps to himself and tries to stay invisible. That doesn't work well when he's forced into a group with Lily Small and a big, happy Hawaiian dude named Big. But they become friends and life starts to change for Paul. The characters are memorable and the story is hopeful and real. You'll remember this one for a long time.

Mrs. Wyant is reading...

Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett! This is seriously one of the best YA romances I've read in a few years! Loving it! If you love mystery, atmospheric romance and flawed but compelling characters, this is your book. Birdie is an 18 year old girl who was homeschooled, has narcolepsy, lost her mother and loves to read mysteries. When she gets her first taste of freedom, she makes a big mistake. But you'll love how she grows and learns from it. Intertwined throughout the book is a real life mystery as fun as any Nancy Drew. Warning: This book is more sexual than most YA books so please choose wisely. I'm almost finished and then it can be yours!

About Me

This is my 19th year in education, 14th year at Tilghman and my 8th year as the PT librarian. I love being a librarian and think it's the happiest job in education.

I received my Masters in Library Science from Murray State and also have an elementary education degree from MSU. I'm originally from Tennessee but have lived in Paducah for 28 years. I am married with two grown daughters who graduated from PT and one adorable granddaughter. Want to see a picture?
