September Edition

Engaged in Learning and Contributing to Community:

Every student! Every Family! Everyday!

A message from Mrs. Robertson

It's finally September. Summer is a distant memory, school is in full swing, and for us here at Spring Hill Intermediate, it is time to get down to business. Our staff here at Spring Hill Intermediate has put in a ton of preparation into this year and we could not be more excited about what is in store for your kids! In order for your child to get the most of their experience here, they need to have good attendance. Our campus has a contest each 6 weeks for best attendance. The class in each grade level with the best attendance for the 6 weeks will earn a trip to Sonic for ice cream.

Visitors for lunch begins September 17th.

We love to have you visit with your child during lunch; however, we will not be allowing visitors on campus until September 17th. This allows our students and staff to fine tune their schedule and have a better understanding of how to help run the cafeteria line smoothly. We appreciate your patience and look forward to September 17th!

Part of our plan for academic success this year will include Power Hour. Power Hour is time spent every morning addressing each student's individual targeted instruction. Hello Week - September 24-28

The Intermediate campus is participating in Hello Week, September 24-28th this year! Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) is a national, nonprofit organization based in Newtown, Connecticut. SHP is led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook School on December 14, 2012. SHP's sole purpose is to educate and empower parents, schools and community organizations on how to prevent gun violence BEFORE it happens by providing mental health & wellness early-identification and intervention programs. We will teacher our students about social isolation, reaching out and helping by saying hello! A brochure with more information will be sent home the week of.

Our activities on our campus will include:

A presentation by our counselor Mrs. Cole during Music and Movement the Friday before

Monday 9/24 - make their own name tags to wear Monday, learn everyone's name in their homeroom (if they haven't already)

Tuesday- WEAR GREEN (Sandy Hook's school color), Human bingo in their homeroom, grade level picture during Recess with a H-E-L-L-O banner!

The adventure begins here! T-shirts

The intermediate campus will be having fun with a "jungle" theme this year. "The Adventure Begins Here!" and "We're WILD about Success!" are a couple of motto's we will use this year. The price of a class t-shirt is included in the supply fee collected at registration. Please refer to the appropriate grade level supply list below for your child's supply fee amount. Class t-shirts will be worn at different times throughout the year and will coordinate with our "jungle" theme. If you did not have the opportunity to purchase this t-shirt at registration, please contact your child's teacher or the office.
