North Chevy Chase Elem. School
Principal's Weekly Update
Nov. 19, 2023
From our Principal
Good Afternoon NCC Families, This is Principal Wallace-Kimbrue with your Sunday Updates.
November 20th and 21st are Instructional Days
November 20th and 21st are half-day instructional days for all MCPS students. Important teaching and learning will occur on both days and both days are a great opportunity for students to engage with their peers before the five-day Thanksgiving holiday. Please make every effort to ensure that your children attend each of these two half-days on time. Their teachers and peers miss them when they are not in school.
Reminder: COVID Test Kits Are Available
COVID-19 home test kits will be available to staff and students before Wednesday, Nov. 22. Since holiday activities like travel and large social gatherings can increase the risk of exposure to respiratory illnesses like COVID-19, we want to make sure everyone has access to home testing. If you receive a test kit, remember to look up the extended expiration date on this table under Covid testing. MCPS Test Kit Distribution Letter for NCC is attached.
FREE English Classes available to MCPS Parents
The Class to Community (C2C) organization offers free English as a Second Language (ESL), GED and college prep, and digital literacy classes. Visit the C2C website for more information

Hey alright!
From the PTA
Thanksgiving is just a week away! Do you have a pie plan yet?
The exclamation isn't for panic* just to convey emphasis and excitement. 😀
While you're double checking your meal plan and grocery list, won't you please consider adding an extra pie to donate to the NCC staff and teacher appreciation pie drive?
It's our NCC community's literal sweet gesture to wish the hardworking team a happy Thanksgiving.
🥧 Pies can be dropped off the weekend of 11/18-19 at either the:
- Huxta residence (3804 Montrose Dr);
- Joyce residence (3506 Dunlop St); or,
- brought to school the morning of Monday, 11/20.
(There will be a pie drop off at both car line and the front door (for walkers/bus riders).
*Looking to contribute without a trip to the store? Venmo us and we'll purchase the pies!: Sarah Huxta @sarahstantonhuxta or Royela Joyce @royela.
