Advanced/Accelerated Placement

Families will be notified by June 20th regarding 6th grade accelerated placement for next year via email. Additionally, any 7th or 8th grade families new to advanced/accelerated placement will be notified by this date, as well.

Parents may complete this form to appeal an accelerated placement decision. An appeal review is completed by a committee to determine if the appeal is approved, denied, or if more information needs to be collected. Middle School Accelerated Programming reviews will occur in early August. Committee decisions are final. All review requests must be submitted no later than July 31.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have a current middle school student in AELA or Accelerated Math there will be no change to their placement on the Fall schedule, unless you have already been notified by their previous year's teacher or administrator.

Camp Raven

Camp Raven will begin on June 27th at 9:00 a.m. Camp will once again take place outside on the RTMS field this year. In the case of bad weather, camp will be cancelled for the day. Please remember to bring a water bottle, wear comfortable clothing, and be ready to be active. If you have any questions or would still like to register please contact Mr. Farley (kfarley@rtsd26.org) or Mr. Kuperman (jkuperman@rtsd26.org).

Please note that the RTMS parking lot and building are not accessible during Camp Raven. If you are dropping off your child, please use the church parking lot next door, or drop off in the neighborhood to walk over to the field.

Building Tours

We will be offering building tours in early August for our incoming 6th graders, and any students new to the building (new to district). If slots fill up, we will look at additional dates. If none of these dates work for you, but you would like to bring your child in for a tour, please email Mrs. Krall-Meske to set up a day/time that works (mkrall@rtsd26.org). With our parking lot construction going on we may need families to park in the neighborhood, or in the church parking lot next door, and walk over for these optional tours.

Please use the SignUp Genius below to select a day/time to come in and walk the building with an administrator. Please only sign up for one slot; one slot is intended for one student/family. Again, these tours are optional.

Schedules and locker assignments will not be given during tours, but will be available on August 8th for 6th graders, and August 9th for 7th/8th graders. The building will be open to students and parents from 9:00 a.m.-12:00p.m. and/or from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on these two days to walk their schedule, practice their locker combination, and to drop off supplies in their locker.

Don't forget: Summer Reading!!

What is SUMMER READING?

All RTMS students are required to read one book over the summer. Each grade level has a specific list of reading selections from which the students will choose.

Then what happens?

Upon returning to school in the fall, students will complete an assignment or discussion in their ELA classes.

Why Summer Reading?

Summer reading is an excellent way for students to demonstrate independence and responsibility; those who return having met the requirement show a zeal for scholarship.
