Principal's Update - Mary Quigley

I too concur with all the Thanks yous regarding the Spelling Bee... It takes a village at WAS. We are very lucky!

Important messsage for Mr. Finken:

The Bike Safety Rodeo will be held Thursday, May 19, at 11:45 on the Washington Avenue School blacktop, with a rain date of Friday, May 20th. This event is available to all second grade students who are interested and third grade students who did not participate in last year's event and wish to do so this year.

To participate, students can bring their bikes to school upon their arrival to school on Thursday, or the parents can bring their child's bike anytime up until around 11:45, when the event begins. For those who are interested, please make sure your child has a helmet and that their bike is good working order. Parents are of course welcome to watch and cheer on their children. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at

On Wednesday, May 25th (the day before Memorial Break) WAS is going to participate in a fundraising event called RedNose Day. Red Nose

Day helps raise money for children in poverty. Half of the proceeds are spent on children here in America and the other half in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Last year, Red Nose Day raised 23 million dollars! Teachers and students at WAS can participate in Red Nose Day by purchasing a red nose at any Walgreens for $1.

We would be supporting a great cause, while having some fun! For a short video and more information:

rednoseday. Buy your rednoses soon! Looking forward to wearing a silly red nose with you on May 25th!
