Study Skills and Test Taking - Wednesdays at Lunch
We have noticed many students with high anxiety surrounding test taking, especially around PAT's and Diplomas. Starting this week STMY is offering extra coping and studying skills seminars at lunchtime in the Library. Please speak to Ms. Sonora Bohaychuk for further details.
Appropriate Winter/School Attire
With the winter season upon us, this is just a reminder that students may have activities outside or the school may be put into a position where we have to evacuate the school and that students need to be prepared for the winter climate and dressed appropriately. At a minimum, winter attire such as a winter coat, mitts, and toque are essential in case of a school emergency. Students that utilize the bus for field trips during our winter months must have essential winter clothing to be allowed on the bus.
Students are also asked to show good judgment by wearing suitable clothing in accordance with the school policy. It is expected that students' clothing be appropriate to our Catholic school setting. As a Catholic School, we recognize the value of dressing in a manner that reflects the respect shown to ourselves and to others. Clothing with objectionable lettering, cresting, or clothing that is revealing is not consistent with the Catholic philosophy of St. Mary’s Catholic School and will not be allowed to be worn on school property or at school-sponsored events and functions.

Sr. Volleyball Teams End their Season Strong
The senior girls ended their season with a great weekend of volleyball in Lac La Biche. They finished strong, winning their last game in 2 sets, unfortunately, it was not enough to make it to the playoffs. The girls have grown so much throughout the season and have shown sportsmanship, resilience, and incredible heart from start to finish.
Mr. Manderson’s senior boys also had an awesome end to their season. The boys battled all the way to the quarterfinals where they gave it their all but fell, 15-13, in the third set to the 2-seed Mallaig. The boys have shown great determination, passion, and grit throughout the season, led by their incomparable captain, senior Isaac Potts. Thank you to Mr. Paulichuk for filling in as coach at Zones!
We are so proud of our athletes and all they have accomplished this season!

First Week of Advent
Reading from the Gospel of Mark:
33 Beware, keep alert; for you do not know when the time will come. 34 It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his slaves in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch. 35 Therefore, keep awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or at dawn, 36 or else he may find you asleep when he comes suddenly. 37 And what I say to you I say to all: Keep awake.”
Prayer:
Lord, our God, we praise You for Your Son, Jesus Christ, for He is Emmanuel, the Hope of all people. He is the Wisdom that teaches and guides us. He is the Savior of us all.
O Lord, let your blessing come upon us this Advent season. Thank you for Christ's promise of salvation. May He come quickly and not delay. We ask this in His holy name. Amen.
