2-Hour Late Start Plan for Challenger
Winter weather is here and there is a greater possibility of having 2-hour late starts due to inclement weather, snow/ice or power outages. When these happen, here is the plan for Challenger Middle and High Schools:
- 2 hour late start = no busing or scheduled on-campus classes
- Remote learning day...NOT A DAY OFF
- Teachers will post materials and assignments on Canvas for students to work on at home using their iPads by 10:00 AM.
- Teachers will be available on Zoom from 10:00 - 11:00AM and then from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM to assist students. Teachers will post Zoom links on their Canvas pages and/or email these out to students.
- Attendance/Engagement will be taken! Students will be marked 'present' if they do any of the following: Complete and submit the assignment for each class, log onto Zoom and check in with all teachers, make 2-way contact with their teachers.
December 6: Digital Learning Day
This is the last day of Trimester 1 at the traditional schools and an early release day which means there is no busing for Challenger. All teachers will post their Zoom links, materials and assignments for students to be working on at home in their Canvas pages. Teachers will available on Zoom during the following times for students to provide help and instruction as needed 9:00 - 11:00 and 11:30 - 1:30 pm.
Attendance will be taken! To me marked as 'present' students need to do any or all of the following:
- Log in to each of their teacher's Zoom classrooms, check in and get directions/instruction for the day
- Complete and turn in the assigned work for the day.
- Make two-way contact with their teacher via Zoom, email, or instant message

Family Income Survey **Action Requested**
As you know, at Challenger we offer all meals to all students at no charge. In order to help our school get the full amount of federal and state funding available tous, and to make sure your student is receiving all the services they are eligible for, Challenger must have a way to identify students from households that are at or below the federal poverty level.
There are certain state-funded programs (all-day kindergarten, learning assistance program, teacher incentives, and K-3 poverty) that are given to our school based on income levels of households for students attending that school. This is why it is so important for you to click the link below and complete the Family Income Survey. Please complete this survey as soon as possible.
