Note from the Principal

This week we officially started the 2nd trimester of the school year.

Things that we can say goodbye to

  • Beginning of the year jitters
  • Really hot days (I think?)
  • Halloween
  • Missing summer

Things we can say hello to

  • Feeling comfortable with school
  • Cooler, crisper (and shorter) days
  • The holidays and some longer breaks
  • Starting to think about our new years resolutions

I want to express my gratitude for working alongside such an incredible community of teachers, staff members, and families. Thank you all for making it such a great first trimester back- lets keep the momentum going for the rest of the 2022 year.

Upcoming Events

No School Friday Nov 11

There will be no school on Friday Nov 11 in honor of Veterans Day

Parent Teacher Conference Week

Parent Teacher Conference week is happening the week of November 14th-18th. During this week you'll be able to schedule a 20-25 minute meeting with your child's teacher to discuss their academic and social emotional progress in school, as well as their goals moving forward.

Our students in 4th & 5th grade will facilitate a Student Led Conference in the classroom where they reflect on strengths, challenges and goals they've set for themselves.

You should have received an email with sign up information from your child's teacher via email. If you haven't received anything, please contact your child's teacher directly or call the main office.

Remember that the school schedule will be 7:50-12:50 during conference days!

4th and 5th Rainbow Club 11/3

The first Thursday of each month, Ms. Jen, Mr. Thomas, and Ms. Ana will be hosting Rainbow Club for 4th and 5th graders! This club is an opportunity for students to learn about different LGBTQ topics including identities, allyship, community, and important people in history. We are excited to celebrate diversity and it's benefits to our school and community!

If your child wants to join, they can attend the first meeting Nov. 3, or any of the following meetings, at the wellness center during 4/5 lunch 12:00-12:40!

Scholastic Book Fair

Get Ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become bolder, prouder, and stronger readers. AND—as always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.

Our fair will take place from 11/14-11/18 in our DW Library. View our flyer for more information in English o en Español

Please use this link to create an eWallet for your child, donate to your classroom teacher's eWallet, as well as VOLUNTEER! Thanks!

HOOtenany Fall Sale 11/20

On Sunday 11/20 from 10am to 2pm there will be a Craft and Bake Sale in the Cafeteria with proceeds going to Daniel Webster. Over 30 local vendors plus the Scholastic Book Fair will be open to the public!

Come and get your holiday shopping done early while supporting local vendors.

Fall Picture Day 12/8

On Thursday, December 8th all students, teachers, and support staff will be getting school pictures taken.

If you miss this day or do not like the photo we will have make-up photos on January 18th.

Lunch 11:20-12:40 (depending on grade level) - Lunch Menu

Arriving to School On Time

This is a reminder that our rolling start each day is from 7:50-8:00 am. This means that students are to be in their seats in the classroom ready to learn by 8:00 am at the latest.

At 8:00, the gate on Texas street and on Missouri street will close. The only entrance after 8:00 will be the front door.

Any student who arrives after 8:05 am will need to get a late pass and we will mark a Tardy for them in the system. Just a reminder that more than 3 tardies is technically considered 'truant' with SFUSD.

Please reach out to Max directly if you have any questions.

Report Cards

Report Cards from Trimester 1 will be available on Parentvue at the beginning the week of November 14th.

We will also provide them along with other test scores during Parent Teacher Conferences

Thursday Morning Soccer

During Thursday morning recess, all students have the option of participating in soccer games that are led by a group of coaches who come out to the site!

Reporting an Absence or Tardy

When reporting an absence or tardy, send an email to include the following people

In the email state your child's name and why they are absent or late so that we can mark it as excused in our system.

**Just a reminder that 3 or more unexcused tardies or absences results in an automatic truancy letter home**

Join the PTA!

We are only ten memberships away from tying last year's record, so please join the PTA right now: https://jointotem.com/ca/san-francisco/daniel-webster-elementary-pta
