Safe Driving Reminders

As we return from break and our roads and sidewalks are covered with snow we want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the safety measures in place to keep everyone safe during drop-off and pick-up times. The staff on duty are there trying to assist your children so please be kind.

Hug-and-Go

  • The Hug-and-Go lane is for student drop-off and pick up only. Parents are to remain in the car at all times.

  • Please pull forward along the north side of Sumac in front of the school, stop, and allow your child to exit/enter the vehicle. If your child needs help getting in/out of the vehicle or closing the door there is a staff member present to assist. Once your child has safely entered/exited the vehicle and there is a break in traffic please pull carefully onto Sumac and proceed west.

  • U-turns or using our neighbors’ driveways are not allowed and are very unsafe and against City Ordinance.

  • The circle drive in the front of the school is closed to all traffic during drop-off and pick-up times unless you have a handicap placard and need access to the handicap parking space.

Parking Lot

  • Please be sure to drive slowly and watch for children who could quickly dart from between cars.

  • Please have your child hold your hand as you walk across the parking lot.

  • Vehicles exiting the parking lot must turn right until 7:55 and 3pm. Left turns are not allowed during drop-off and pick-up times.

Walking/Bike Riding

  • Pedestrians are expected to follow the rules of the road.

  • Please use caution when crossing the bus loop entrance/exit, parking lot entrance/exit, and all crosswalks.

Drivers should not be on their phones, even hands-free, at any time while driving in a school zone. These rules are in effect regardless of the weather conditions. Thank you everyone for helping us keep our students and community safe. Please remember this is our utmost priority and please be kind when staff reminds you of these expectations.

School Supplies 2023-2024

School Supply contributions are now being accepted. Please read this letter for the details.

Yes, school meals are now free! Other important cost savings available for families who qualify and complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application

Thanks to Colorado voters, school meals will be free for all BVSD students beginning in the 2023-24 school year.

Even though lunch is now free, it is still very important that families complete the free and reduced meal application, as it waives and reduces fees district-wide for families, can impact transportation for some families, and impacts important funding for individual schools.

It also qualifies families for a 50% reduction in Lifelong Learning tuition, and waived tuition for BVSD Online classes (excluding the $50 registration fee). Child Care families will continue to apply for financial assistance through the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP).

Visit the Free and Reduced Price Meals webpage for information on applying for free or reduced meals or contact your school directly.

Families are also encouraged to visit the BVSD Help Center August 10-12 and 14-15 for assistance with free and reduced lunch applications, and additional enrollment support. Read more at BVSD.org.

Kindergarten Welcome Days

Kindergarten Welcome days are an opportunity for our new Kindergarten students to meet our teachers, some of their classmates, and get a feel for what a full school day is like. We divide the students by last names and give them and the teachers an opportunity to know each other before students are placed into their classes.

August 16 - Last name starting with A-L

August 17 - Last name starting with M-Z

Friday, August 18 - All Kindergarten students

Students will attend either August 16 or 17 for the full day (7:50 am-2:50 pm). Friday, August 18 will be all kindergarten students but only for half a day 7:50 am-2:00 pm. You can join us for popsicles at 2:00 pm on the 18th to meet members of the community and staff on this day. Please bring your child to the kindergarten playground at 7:50 am all these three days.

This information was sent in a communication to Kindergarten families. If you have an incoming Kindergartener and did not receive that email please reach out to Edit Morquecho at edit.morquecho@bvsd.org or 720-561-2803.

Late-Start Wednesdays

After the first week of school, each Wednesday there will be a district-wide 1-hour late start for all schools. This will allow professional learning time for teachers. School will begin at 8:50 AM on Wednesdays beginning on August 23rd.

Elementary schools across BVSD will be hosting child care for families who need it on Wednesday late starts beginning at 7:40 am in the school cafeteria.

In order for our school to plan for this, please fill out this Google form if you intend to bring your child to child care on late-start Wednesdays.

*Please fill out a separate form for each child in your household who will need childcare on late start Wednesdays.*

If your child will not be accessing BVSD care on Wednesdays, there is no need to fill out this form.

RTD is FREE for youth for the 23/24 School Year!

For the month of August RTD is free for all riders through their Zero Fare for Better Air program. Starting in September through August 2024, RTD will be free for youth 19 and under. This includes local and regional routes. Youth will simply need to show a school or government-issued ID. Please refer to this RTD webpage for more information.

Carpools

All BVSD schools have a Schoolpool network through WaytoGo, a program of the Denver Regional Council of Governments. Schoolpool is a resource for organizing a carpool or finding walk/bike/bus groups. Invitations have been sent via SchoolMessenger inviting families to sign up. To view your school's invitation with its unique URL, please visit this Google folder. If your families have any questions about SchoolPool, they can email SafeRoutes@bvsd.org.

IMPORTANT SPECIALS INFORMATION

Hello Crest View Families,

This 2023/24 school year, Crest View will not be following the district's ABC weekly schedule. Instead, we felt that students would benefit from rotating specials on a daily ABC rotation. Below are the links to the ABC rotation calendar and the classroom teachers rotation schedule so we can ensure that your student will be prepared for Art, Music, and PE on their day. We are looking forward to another great school year!
