The Weekly Howl
St. Francis Catholic School - Sunday, May 23th
Dear Parents & Friends of SFCS,
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and this Pentecost Sunday! Happy Birthday to our Church!!!
This will be the last week with our Class of 2021!!! Our 8th Grade students will be graduating this Friday and beginning a new chapter to their lives. This week we will be celebrating our graduates with the traditional 8th Grade "Send Off" in our courtyard at 2:30pm. Also the graduation is an open mass so if you or your family would like to attend you may. Mrs. Sweeney is also in need of student volunteers to sing in the choir. Please let her know if your child is interested.
There are also many other activities occurring this week. This Tuesday the Middle School students will have a presentation from the Lowcountry Alliance for Healthy Youth. On Wednesday the 6th Grade will be performing their play in combination with the 7th Grade International Festival. Also on Wednesday, the 2nd Grade will be preforming our traditional May Crowing. So as you can see it will be another busy week at SFCS.
I hope everyone has a great remainder to their weekend!
Sincerely in Christ,

They had a busy fun-filled week in Kindergarten! They began their week watching the outstanding outdoor performance by the 5th graders, the students loved the play! They viewed the 3rd grade baby chicks, learned all about the importance of praying the rosary, worked on a STEM bubble experiment, listened to many of our friends read and celebrated the Solemnity of Pentecost! They are so grateful to be filled with the Holy Spirit and love their hats Mrs. Gloven helped them create as a reminder. Kindergarten wrapped up the week with a special birthday celebration for their friends who they will not be able to celebrate this summer at school. It was a fantastic week to be a St. Francis Kindergartner!
The Second Grade released the butterflies that they had raised (and named!) this past week. It was not only part of the Science curriculum but also a wonderful correlation to the Resurrection and Ascension of our Lord. The students are hoping that the butterflies will stop by to visit when they are outside at recess next week.

Congratulations to all of our 3rd graders for finishing the One Mile Time Trial this week in PE Class!!
With local legend, Jack White taking a personal day, Noah Dorshimer took advantage of the wide-open competition and a favorable cool breeze to win the boys’ division with a blistering time of 8:17.
As for the girls, it came down to the final lap between Emily “Flash” Campos and Isabella “Annoying” Heitman. With the Eye of the Tiger and the extra motivation of winning a giant lollipop, “Flash” Campos found another speed and cruised to the win with a personal best time of 9:12.
The big winner was DC “Daisy” Collett. She won big box candy from Coach’s Black Bag by dropping over 3 minutes from her previous best time. Miss Daisy has shown unbelievable improvement in her running and conditioning over the past 6 weeks! Today’s performance officially moves DC out the “Grandma Slow Poke” Division and makes her eligible to run with the “Big dawgs” next year! Great Job, 3rd Grade!!
A BIG THANK YOU to everyone that attended the SFCS Sports Celebration! It was great to see such a big crowd here to support our amazing student-athletes, coaches and teams after such a crazy year. We say good-bye to the following 8th grade athletes and wish them all best of luck as they move on to various high schools next year.
