God Wants Me to Be a Part of His Family
For the past 9 weeks we've been teaching kids about how the Lord wants us to view family. This is our last week of this series and preschoolers are learning, "I Love God's Family" while elementary kids are learning, "God Wants Me To Be a Part of His Family" from the story of Nicodemus in John 3.
Nicodemus was a Pharisee who was trying to wrap his mind around the story of the gospel, the story of how we get to be a part of God's family. Most of us probably know John 3:16, but let's not take it for granted!
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
We need this truth to be deeply rooted in our hearts. We don't have to be fearful, we don't have to try to earn our salvation, we don't have to strive to make the father love us. He loves us so much that he sent Jesus to rescue us! We get to believe & receive!
I think back to what Jesus told Nicodemus, that unless someone is born again they cannot see the kingdom of God. The reverse of that is also true- if you have been born again then you can see the kingdom of God. What does it look like to live like that?
- How are we asking the Lord to change our families?
- What big things are we asking for our church family, our teams?
- How has the Lord given you eyes to see the kids and families that we serve? What are we praying for for them and how are we speaking life over them?
Let's not take the fact that we're a part of God's family for granted. That we're co-heirs with Christ. That the Holy Spirit lives in you and has the ability to change every environment you step into. That we get to see His kingdom come here on Earth as it is in Heaven.
