Cougar Connection
August/September
From the Principal...
Welcome back to school! We hope you had a wonderful and restful summer break. As we embark on a new academic year, we are thrilled to welcome all of you back to our campus. Your presence and enthusiasm bring life to our school, and we can't wait to see the hallways bustling with energy once again.
Over the summer, we've been hard at work making some exciting updates to our school environment. First and foremost, we are proud to unveil our brand-new school logo, (pictured above). We have a new spirit wear site HERE, where families can order new spirit wear! Every Friday this year will be Colbert Gear Day, where students can wear any Colbert gear they have.
In addition to our new logo, we have also undergone a refreshing transformation within our building. You'll notice a significant change as you walk through the corridors – our entire school has been adorned with new flooring. This upgrade not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of our spaces but also creates a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for all. We have attached pictures for you to see and appreciate the positive impact of this improvement.
As we gather once again within these walls, we want you to know how genuinely excited we are to reconnect with our students. Your presence is what makes our school truly special, and we are committed to providing you with the best possible learning experience. Our dedicated teachers and staff have been eagerly preparing to engage, educate, and inspire each one of you.
Here's to a fantastic school year filled with growth, achievements, and memorable moments. Let's come together with a renewed spirit, embracing the opportunities that lie ahead. Welcome back, and let's make this year exceptional!
With warm regards,
Cari Trowbridge

We are working hard to finalize our numbers and classroom assignments for the year!
Class placement emails will go out to families the morning of Wednesday, August 30. If for some reason you do not receive an email, you may call the front office, or come to the Ice Cream Social and find out there! What can I expect the first day of school?
Start and End Time:
- School begins at 9:00, and ends at 3:20.
- Our first Late start Wednesday will be 09/13/23. School begins at 9:40 on late start days.
- All students will line up with their class outside on the blacktop.
- We will have many adults outside to help students find their lines.
- Parents/guardians will say goodbye to students at the fence.
- Families can drop students off using our Drop Off/Pick Up line in front of the building. Just pull up and drop students off at the sidewalk, no need to get out of your car! We will make sure they get to where they need to be!
- Breakfast begins at 8:50. Students eating breakfast at school will enter the front doors of the building and enter the cafeteria.
Pick Up:
- Families can access the Drop Off/Pick Up line in front of the building to pick up their children. Please do not park, or leave your car in the line, as it interrupts the flow of the line.
- Students who walk or are getting picked up will exit the building through the front doors.
- Families can meet students out in front, or over by our large parking lot on the East side of the building.
What color will your grade be rocking this year??
For our Golden Award Assemblies and Color War Spirit Days, students will be encouraged to wear their grade level color.
During the first week of school there will be colored signs with teacher names placed where each class lines up. All students need to do is look for their grade level color!

It can be very expensive to print and flyers do not always make it home. Moving forward Colbert Elementary PTO will be using our PTO website and social media platforms and the PTO section of the Cougar Connection as the primary form of communication to families. If you would like a paper copy of flyers or forms they can be available in the school office.
