News from Mrs. Kott
Can you believe that we have already had three weeks of school? I am so proud of the energy, and patience, that our teachers, students and families are bringing every day! A few reminders about learning remotely/virtually. Please remember that Google Meets are a window into your home. Everything that happens in the background, the entire class sees. All comments and conversations that occur in your home, the entire class hears. Although you are in your home, school appropriateness and privacy are still very important. Thank you for your help!
Speaking of Google Meets, please keep in mind that these are actually our teachers’ classrooms. Now that we are in the swing of things, we really need students and teachers to interact with each other only. We understand that it is tricky being at home and watching them struggle. However, true learning includes persevering through difficulties. This is a vital skill that students need to be independent learners. If you have questions about how you can support your child, please reach out to his/her teacher. In case you were not aware, the only methods of communication HAS teachers are using this year are: Schoology, email and/or phone.
Thank you to all of the families who were able to come pick up materials this week. If you were unable to do so, please call the office. Although we will return to Davisburg for in person instruction on October 5th, your child will need these supplies and materials until then. If your child is a 100% virtual student, information will be provided for future pickups.
As always, please let me know how I can support you, your child and your family.
Truly,
Denise Kott

District Mental Health Survey
Dear Holly Area Schools Families,
We want to welcome all of you to the 2020-21 school year! As we re-enter the school, we know that re-entry will look and feel different as we continue to navigate through the COVID 19 pandemic. Please know that our school teams are here and ready to support you.
Holly Area Schools continues to be committed to educating the whole child. This commitment includes supporting the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) needs of our students.
As part of the re-entry process, our task force team was formed (composed of members including staff, administrators, counselors, psychologists and social workers) and worked throughout the summer to plan for a successful start to the school year. One specific area of focus for the Task Force was that of student health and well-being. To that end, the Health & Well-Being Team created a quick and easy survey for parents to complete that will allow our staff to better understand the emotional impact and needs resulting from the COVID 19 pandemic.
We understand and respect that the pandemic has created a heavy load of emotions for our students to process. We also understand that every student processes stress differently. To better assist our students, we are asking our families to please fill out the HAS Parent/Student SEL Survey. This information will allow our school teams to initiate support for your student as needed.
As always, thank you for your support of your student and of our district.
Kind Regards,
Mental Health Support Team

The past few weeks I have been sharing Leader in Me messages for students on Schoology. To see these messages, students should get into their teacher’s course and then click where it says “Davisburg Elementary” right under the title of their course. Once the parent accounts are active, you will also receive these messages from me in Schoology. Information for parent accounts will be coming soon. Until then, please watch the videos and read the messages with your child. Discuss how they can use the 7 Habits to be a leader at home.
If you are interested in learning more about the Leader in Me and the 7 Habits, check out the Parent Guide Link.
