What was the change ?
From 1500 to 1700 Europe expierienced the Scientific Revolution. It was a change in the way people viewed the natural world.
Who were the people associated with this change ?
Galileo Galiei
He is an Italian math professor who set out to prove many of Aristotle's theories about nature wrong. Some of the things he proved: objects accelerate at a predictable & fixed rate, proved that heavy objects fall at the same rate as lighter ones etc. Also Galilieo used the telescope as in the picture to study sunspots, the moon's surface, & Jupiter's moons.
Nicolaus Copernicus
Copernicus was a polish astronomer. In the middle ages people believed since ancient times, that the earth was at the center of the universe. Then he made a theory called the geocentric theory. It meant that all the planets revolved around earth. But he said the model didn't explain movement of the sun, moon , & planets.
Johannes Kepler
Kepler was a German astronomer. He made a new theory called the heliocentric theory. His observations proved the theory & model was true. He also proposed three laws of planetary motion based upon his observations. This theory said that all the planets revolved around the sun. His model was the first new model of the universe in 2000 years.
