I hope that our Huskies enjoyed the unexpected snow days! Just to clarify our snow day procedure - we do not always follow what our local districts do in inclement weather. However, if most of our surrounding districts call off school, it's pretty confident we will.

Often, it is a "no win" situation for us, as some families love snow days and others scramble for child care. Mr. Melero is on the roads bright and early and he and the administrative team make the decision on whether to close. Many factors go into the decision to close school, but the most important is to keep our children safe. We are always cognizant of the fact that the earlier you know of a closure, the more time you have to plan. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate for the next few months! Power of the Pack!

I know some of us don’t like the snow but having two snow days this week was something the students loved. Hope you parents made it through okay. The snow days caused some problems with our NWEA testing but we are in the process of wrapping that up. Thank you students and staff for being flexible in order to finish testing. As the second week of the new semester comes to an end, now is a great time to have a conversation with your student to celebrate their successes, as well as, discuss strategies to encourage growth.

Upcoming important dates:

The Spelling Bee is on February 9th. Keep encouraging your students to sign up!

Transition to Holly Academy Middle School is scheduled for February 8th at 6pm. This is for all 5th-grade students and parents. This will take place in the auditorium. It will consist of a slideshow with what HA has to offer. The students will participate in a tour of the middle school and have a Q&A. Fifth-grade students that attend will receive a dress-down coupon. If a HA 5th-grader brings a friend from a different district with them to the event both students will receive a dairy queen gift certificate.

Friday Night Fun-Night for 5/6/7 graders:

March 10th from 6pm-10pm in the middle school. Fifth-grade parents if you are interested in signing up please reach out to me.
