Dear Families and Community Members,

On Tuesday, May 16th Goshen Center School welcomed students from the Bucks Hill School in Waterbury. Our 5th and 6th graders opened their classrooms to the visiting students and teachers. All the students shared a delicious churro snack, participated in board games and developed an interactive activity using Spanish and English skills. We ended the day with fun and cooperative games outside.Thank you to Mrs. and Mr. Ruiz for organizing the wonderful day! The GCS students will be visiting Waterbury next week.

School Beautification

Goshen Center School has zinnias!! I would like to offer special thanks to the Wamogo Agriculture Department for growing the beautiful zinnias which have been planted in our front entrance gardens. Ms. Truczinskas, Mr. Leary, and two awesome students, Jack and Christopher helped me with the planting.

Summer Garden Maintenance

Over the next few weeks, GCS students will be readying the beds, sowing seeds and transplanting plants into the Garden of Life for this year’s growing season!

Through sustainable, organic practices the garden brings life-long, authentic learning into the lives of our students who work hard to collaboratively bring the garden to life. Throughout the summer, the delicious, nutritious produce is enjoyed by those in need at area soup kitchens and food banks and by families maintaining the garden. Upon arrival back to school in the fall, students enjoy the freshly picked produce and the GCS community is invited to join us at our Harvest Luncheon to enjoy the dishes each class freshly prepared.

The outreach, celebrations, and success of the garden would not be possible without the help of families maintaining the garden during the summer.

We are seeking families to sign-up for one week. (Consider sharing the week with another family!) If your family is able to help, please fill out this form.

Summerfest - Camp for students in grades 2-8

Wamogo High School is pleased to announce that for the upcoming summer of 2017, we are running our very own summer program: Summerfest.

This is a 6 week long camp-style program that is 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday) from 9am - 2pm, and runs from June 26th - August 3rd. Sessions are split into 2 week increments and you may sign your child up for multiple sessions if you so choose. Summerfest is open to all Region 6 students of all ability levels in grades 2 - 8. The cost is $75 per week per child with transportation available from central locations for participants. July 5-7 is a shortened week and costs $50.

Summerfest features tons of fun, daily activities led by a team of peer leaders, which include: outdoor sports, classic camp games, arts and crafts, music and drama, water carnivals, cooking, gardening, STEM, dance, team building games, and much more.

If you have any questions or to register your child, please email:

Linda Martin, Special Ed. Teacher: lamartin@rsd6.org

Steven Bagley, Social Worker: sbagley@rsd6.org

Please continue to clip Box Tops off your favorite products! Ten cents doesn't sound like much but they add up fast and help the PTO provide Enrichment opportunities for GCS students. If possible, ask other family members, co-workers and neighbors to collect them as well. This is a quick reminder that at the end of each month the classroom that has collected the most Box Tops gets a prize. See the below attachment for a list of products that have Box Tops on their labels.

A big thank you to our BTFE coordinators, Heike Robillard and Chrissy Steward.

Thank you!
