Weekly Staying Connected, Edition 9, September 19

From Majors Ruwethin

Hi Church -

For this newsletter, I share words from my sister, Major AnnMarguerite Jones (Concord):

The kids are back in school. Parents are back to work. In-person meetings are resuming. And our calendars are filling up again!

But let's not forget the lessons we learned in our lockdown days:

  • Sometimes - less is more.
  • You don't have to be involved in everything.
  • Fellowship is definitely important, but ...
  • Don't forget to stay connected to God and make intentional decisions to stay connected to family too!

"Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5, NIV

Make sure you read/scan the newsletter each week - new info or updates every week!

Maverick City Stockton

Maverick City Concert

We were able to attend the Maverick City Concert on Thursday, September 16. What an amazing time of worship! The presence of God filled the place as people sang, danced, prayed, lifted their hands, and were challenged to be God's hands in the world. Here are a few pictures and short video to get a glimpse of the night. We thank God for the opportunity to share in this experience. The pictures didn't come out the best - but if you want to hear more about the night you can ask: Miles, Alex S., Jeannette, Lizz, Linda, Oscar, Janae, Brianda, Brooke, Braden, Rhys, Karina, Alex R., Kiara, Bram, Celestine, or myself.

Tuesday Family Nights

We had a great time with those who came to the first Family Night. We want to make sure you know that the word "family" doesn't mean you have to bring a car full of people. It is just a night for ALL ages to join in dinner, youth programs, and Bible study. We hope to see you this coming Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

Annual Prayer for Victims of Human Trafficking

We are having a Cadet brigade from the College For Officer Training join us October 15-17 weekend. Save the date on 10/16 as we prepare a fun work and outreach day. We hope to freshen up the parking lot and exterior of this beautiful property with paint. We also want to pass out church fliers in the neighborhood.

Remember Daisy Gaytan

As we remember Manuel and his ministry and love for God, his family and others, please remember Daisy and the boys as they go through these tough days, weeks, months and even years. The meal train is still up and running for the time being. If you would like to continue to bless the family please look at the link below. Thanks and blessings to you.

Impact Learning Lab - Habits of Holiness

September 25, 2021 will be our next “Impact Learning Lab” and we hope you and your corps family will join us. Major Nancy Helms will be sharing “Habits of Holiness”. In this time together, she will share with us the concept of a “Rule of Life”. Taken from sacredordinarydays.com “A rule of life is a commitment to live your life in a particular way. It is meant to be crafted with prayer and discernment, in partnership with God, as you consider the way God made you and the values He has inscribed upon your heart. Once written, it serves as a tool that can help you make decisions for your life and determine how best to order your days.”

The Salvation Army has a church subscription to Right Now Media that allows all of us as church members access to great videos, teaching, illustrations for all ages. We encourage you to take a peek at Right Now Media. All you have to do is email us to let you know you are interested in having access and we'll sign you up for FREE.
