1st Six Weeks Reflection
Let's reflect on the 1st six weeks!
With your table discuss the following topics:
What went well in the 1st Six Weeks?
What would you tweak the next time you teach it?
Is there any topics that you think need to be re-taught?
Do you have any questions about curriculum so far?
Dive Into Curriculum
Where do I access our curriculum and Scope and Sequence?

Find the scope and sequence and save it to your computer ( If you haven't already)
Access the Teacher overview

Order of Operations... Is it just an order?
When you have a chance read the article below...
With your group discuss how you or your students might solve this problem.
7 + 3 X 5 + 8
How do we approach Standard Algorithm when coming from Partial Products?
Discuss with your table using the following sentence stem:
" Partial Products can help our students achieve standard algorithm because..."
Definition for Algorithm:
a procedure for solving a mathematical problem (as of finding the greatest common divisor) in a finite number of steps that frequently involves repetition of an operation; broadly : a step-by-step procedure for solving a problem or accomplishing some end especially by a computer
Let's think.... If students know the steps for partial products do they know the steps to standard algorithm? How can we help our students become independent thinkers?
Problem Solving! Creating Independent Thinkers!
Problem solving is like reading. Just as good readers, make text to self connections, text to text connections, and text to world connections… so do good mathematicians.

Brainstorm what kinds of things to create problems about in the next 6 weeks.
- Look at the first week of the 2nd six weeks curriculum.
- Choose one big topic to create a problem over.
- How can we use this problem to create independent thinkers?

Talk Moves
Let's reflect on todays training!
Using the sentence stems below discuss with your table how using sentence stems in math can help our students build metacognition:
So you're saying...
Do you agree or disagree? Why?
Explain how you figured....
Can you repeat what you just said?
Would someone like to add on to this discussion?
What stuck with you today?
Reflect on Padlet below:
I made a connection with....
I am glad we talked about....
Next time could we talk about.....
