SCS Happenings: June 9, 2021
Saint Catharine of Siena, pray for us.
From One Wildcat to Another...
Happy end of the year! We made it...together. We hoped for the best, planned for everything. With patience, perseverance, persistence, and faith we made it to the end of the journey. We had successes and some challenges. We had some frustrations, too. But in the end, it was a year filled with more celebrations--both tangible and intangible. Together, we continued the work needed to keep our students safe and learning. For that, I am so very grateful to our SCS Community.
I would like to thank our dedicated, hard-working, and compassionate faculty and staff who have made a huge difference to our students. Their commitment to Catholic education is amazing and our students continue to reap the benefits of their love for their vocations. I am continuously amazed at their resilience, their passion, and their grit. SCS is truly blessed.
We have some faculty and staff who will begin to spend more time with family, traveling, and enjoying retired living. It is with heartfelt thanks and sadness that we say goodbye to:
- Mrs. Robin Bisaccia
- Mrs. Melissa Heiser
- Mrs. Sandi McDevitt
We thank you for your many years of service to Saint Catharine of Siena School. May God bless you in your new adventure!
Congratulations, students, faculty and staff, and parents. We are here!
Please be assured of my continued prayers for you and your families. Have a rejuvenating, restful summer with family and friends. Remind your students to not save summer work until the last minute and we will see you August 30, 2021... and with a little luck, a lot of prayers, and good health with full smiling faces.
Thank you for all you do today, tomorrow, and always. Saint Catharine of Siena, pray for us.
Air high fives to all,
Mrs. Marcella Kraycik

A Note from the Safe Environment Office
We look with hope to the next school year and want to be prepared for the day when volunteers will be welcomed into the school. As you know, several years ago the Diocese of Allentown began requiring clearances for all volunteers ages 18 and older. Several of these clearances are only valid for 5 years. These include the Pennsylvania State Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints, and Mandated Reporter Certification.
Many volunteers from St. Catharine’s School/Parish have clearances that have already expired or will expire soon. I encourage you to be proactive in renewing your clearances so you are prepared for the day when our school/parish events are fully open.
Please contact Marci Zambito at mzambito@scsreading.org if you are unsure of the status of your clearances or are in need of a payment code for FBI fingerprints. Directives for all clearances can be found at www.scsyouth.weebly.com under the Safe Environment tab.
Thank you!

SCS SPIRITWEAR
Scrip Volunteers Needed for the 3rd Sunday
We are looking for a volunteer to sell SCRIP for the 3rd Sunday of every month, 1st shift (7:15am - 10:15a.m). If you are looking to volunteer, but your time is limited, this is a great option! You will sell 12x a year, and if you need a sub for a month off or want to switch a shift during any month, simply reach out to the other sellers!
Please contact Cristina Schmehl at scripprogramscs@gmail.com.
Box Tops for Education
No more clipping. No more sending Box Tops to school. All you need is your phone. Download the ALL-NEW Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit your school's Box Tops earnings online.
You can still clip them and send them to school. Physical Box Top clips are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store. Send your clipped Box Tops, along with any unexpired clips you may have at home, to SCS.
Twice a year, your school will receive a check and can use that cash to buy whatever it needs!
