This weeks enrichment classes were filled with activity!
Students in the K-3 Science Art Class were engaged in two activities that expanded their understanding of illusion and color theory with color spinners, as well as constructing a "sound viewer" enabling them to "see" the sound waves of their own voices.
The student in the 4th-8th Problem Solving Workshop were busy with 'A Heavy Load' Challenge engineering a support that will hold "the weight of world" using a limited amount of materials and time.
Looking forward to seeing you in class next week Feb. 16th.
Reminder: No class Feb. 23rd
New Brochures Help Explain California Common Core State Standards
What kinds of things will my child learn in mathematics and English language arts in first grade? In high school? New brochures focused on the California Common Core State Standards for mathematics and English language arts/literacy (ELA) are now available.

The brochures on the mathematics standards showcase example problems, and the brochures on the ELA standards highlight the progression of learning through the grade levels. YEARBOOK NEWS from CHARMAINE
You get a FREE 2 page layout in the yearbook, and it will only appear in YOUR yearbook. Please talk to Charmaine if you would like details on how to do this.
We will be taking headshot photos for yearbook, for those students AND STAFF who missed the school pictures day, or had their make-up pictures done in the gym, or for those of you who just do not like the photos you took. These will be FREE for the yearbook. We will be taking these pictures every day for a week, so you do not have to come out for an extra trip.
We would prefer to have all the pictures with the same background, so it gives a nice, professional look.
The following date is still available to come take photos (RAIN CANCELS)
Friday Feb. 19th 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
If it rains on any day, then we will move it to the following week with the same times.
Also, if you have pictures of your kids attending a school function, or playing at the school, or a picture with their teacher, feel free to email it to Charmaine for a possible entry into the yearbook. Sooner rather than later will give you a better chance of getting it into the book. Staff, we'd love to have any pictures that you've taken in class as well!
