Pirates Argh Better Together!
Tomorrow we will have our Lacrosse Spirit Night at SBHS- students received a free ticket to attend the women's and men's lacrosse game beginning at 5 pm. I hope to see lots of little Pirates out there supporting our high school Pirates!
Kindergarten registration for the 2022-2023 school year will open on Monday, March 28. To be eligible, a child must turn 5 on or before August 31, 2022. Registration will be online, and parents will need to provide a birth certificate, updated immunization records, a parent/guardian photo ID, and proof of residency.
Apply online here: 2022-2023 Kindergarten Registration.
Thursday we will kick off our Dance Fit fundraiser! If you haven't already, please take a few seconds to register your children online at mybooster.com. All students that register will receive a prize. All students will participate in viewing the character education lessons daily and all students will participate in the dance during their Enrichment classes on April 8th. As parents, all you have to do is register your child, share about our fundraiser to family and friends and give a donation if you are able. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for a covered breezeway for our three new mobiles. Last year we added 3 new mobiles and raised money through this same fundraiser to build a covered walkway to to keep our students dry, now we are trying to do the same thing for our three additional mobile classrooms! If everyone gives a little, I am sure that we can reach our goal and keep our students dry! Thank you in advance for your participation.
With just one more grading period to go, it is extremely important that students come to school on time, every day ready to learn. Students will begin their end of year assessments in May and we want everyone prepared to do their very best! We know that student success is based on many factors including attitude, effort, work habits, parental involvement, positive school environment, positive teacher student relationships and so much more. We are very blessed at SBES to have such strong partnerships with our families and the school community. This definitely has a positive impact our students' performance. As we begin our final quarter, we also ask parents to please remind students of behavior expectations. We will have lots of fun activities such as Field Day and end of year celebrations. If students do not display appropriate school behavior they will be ineligible to attend this special events. It is important that we are respectful of each other and that we do not let our behavior impede the learning of ourselves and others. Thank you parents for helping reiterating our behavior expectations.

COMMUNICATION IS CRITICAL for your child's success:
1. The teacher is always the first point of contact. If you cannot resolve an issue after meeting with the teacher, please schedule an appointment to meet with administration.
2. See our data manager (Lori Jones) to sign up for Parent Portal. This gives you up to date info on student attendance and assignments for (3rd-5th grade).
3. Pay attention to the weekly ALL CALL and EMAIL that is sent out every Sunday evening. If you don't want to listen to the message, no worries, the email contains the transcript as well as important links and cute pictures of our students:) If you are not receiving the call and email, please let Lori Jones (lori.jones@onslow.k12.nc.us) know so that we can make sure your info. is up to date. This is the method that we will use to communicate with parents in the event of an emergency, so you need to make sure that you are receiving these calls.
4. Check out our school website: https://www.onslow.k12.nc.us/swansboroes
5. Check out our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/swansboroelementaryschool/
6. Remember, for safety reasons, we do not give out student information over the phone and all changes in transportation must be done through School Dismissal Manager.
7. If there are custody issues, we must have a copy of the current custody paperwork on file with a judge's signature. If not, both parents have equal access to the student and their educational records.
8. If you have concerns regarding bus routes, stops, schedules and drivers, please direct those concerns to our transportation coordinator Judy O'Donald at 326-1436. SBES does not have direct communication with the buses; therefore, this must go through the transportation dept. Please remember if you would like to stay up to date with bus changes and delays, please download the Edulog Parent Portal App. More info can be found here:https://www.onslow.k12.nc.us/Page/1266.
