Registration coming soon!
Students will have the opportunity to sign up for band again next year! We are so excited and would love for EVERYONE to sign up again! If you have any questions or concerns, please always feel free to reach out at info@dmsbands.org.
There are many things to look forward to in Concert and Symphonic Band classes! Students in both Concert and Symphonic Band get to perform at the home DMS football games. All students that are in these classes are eligible to register for the annual spring trip to Orlando as well! There are more performances and all of the same fun from beginner band as well. It's a great thing for your student to be part of!
Beginner SOLO PROJECT!
Students have chosen a solo for the Solo Project for our next performance grade!
To receive the grade in class, students have chosen one of three solos provided in class. We discussed this at length in class and filled out google forms to request which solo the kids wanted to learn. Their options are: (1) "Melody" - Level 1, (2) "Dance Song" - Level 2, (3) "Country Gardens" - Level 3.
Based on their google form submission, I will make copies of their solos and hand them out by Monday. But, these solos are available as PDFs in Schoology if they want to practice this weekend!
The students with either perform this solo for the class, or perform it at the Solo and Ensemble Festival, where they can go on a Saturday and perform the music for a judge for some feedback and possibly a medal! Students can earn a medal at this festival if they receive a superior rating for their performance! It's a lot of fun and a great opportunity for small ensemble playing!
Festival Info:
Location: at Liberty Middle School
Sat. April 6th
Times will be announced the week before. After students perform, they can leave!
$5 fee
We will sign up to attend the festival via google form before Spring Break.
Again, it is not required to attend this festival. But, if students DO attend the festival and perform their solo, they will not be asked to do it again in front of the class. Its an either/or situation!
We will discuss music playing basic skills in this unit as well as lengthy discussions on practice habits, being a good and respectful audience member, etc.
It will be fun!
Music Performance Assessment: Band Competition
We are hoping (we have requested) that Symphonic band will travel on the 7th and Concert Band will travel on the 6th. But - this is not set in stone!
Solo and Ensemble coming up soon!
Students have the opportunity to sign up to perform at the Solo and Ensemble Festival for our district. This year, this event will be at LMS on April 6th!
Students prepare (on their own) a solo, duet or trio! Then, they can perform it for a judge at the festival and earn a medal for a superior rating. Highly recommended! There will be a google form registration in the next few weeks. Solo and Ensemble music/materials will be provided in class for the next few weeks and posted in Schoology for reference.
