8th Grade Science
The 5E Model lessons which are built into the district provided Canvas modules begin with a guiding question and end with a CER to check for understanding. Students are to use the evidence gained from the tasks to support their answer to the question.
The lessons can be used for both in person and virtual students. They are meant to be implemented as a whole, however elements can be taken from them to be used as you need.
The SSA Review materials are for you to use in a way that best fits your students’ need and available time. These are highly recommended to review at throughout the year to solidify understanding of the concepts. Carefully preview as some of the lessons are longer than others.

Required Instruction: Veterans Day ~ Wednesday, November 11, 2020
In 1919, when first celebrated as Armistice Day, the day marked the end of World War I, formally recognized on the “11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month” in 1918. The purpose of Armistice Day was to honor the fallen soldiers of The Great War for their sacrifice and bravery. Seven years later, Congress adopted a resolution requesting President Coolidge issue annual proclamations on November 11, making Armistice Day a legal holiday.
On June 1, 1954 Congress amended the bill replacing “Armistice” with “Veterans" to celebrate all veterans rather than just the ones who died in World War I. We continue to celebrate the day as Veterans Day, still recognizing the original tie with November 11. That means Veterans Day is on the same day every year -- November 11 -- regardless of which day of the week it falls.
