RES Weekly Buzz
Even though it was a short week, it was a very busy week here at RES. Our teachers had a full day of professional development provided by both outside presenters and our own faculty experts. Topics included reading instruction, behavior management techniques, supporting students in the classroom, equity & inclusion, and teaching a trauma-informed classroom. It was an important and productive day for our staff, as we increased our training and knowledge to help us best support kids.
Our 3rd graders enjoyed a field trip to Cape Ann Museum where they visited the White Ellery House and experienced the 13 Moons: Teaching the Wampanoag Experience. Educator Darius Coombs from the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe taught our students traditional Wampanoag culture through interactive experiences where Wampanoag partners recently installed a wetu, a traditional home. It was a morning full of information and adventure. Thank you, CAM!
Our second grade students retraced the landmarks from the story, The Catnip Man, by Ruth Langland Holberg. Mrs. Holberg was a children's author who lived in Rockport. The students walked downtown, made connections to the literature, visited a local business, and enjoyed a wonderful experience.
The weather is certainly changing, and we are experiencing cooler mornings and slightly warmer afternoons. Please send your students to RES in layers, so they are prepared for the ever-changing temperatures.
"In the entire circle of the year, there are no days so delightful as those of a fine October - no days so calm, so tenderly solemn, and with such a reverent meekness in the air." Alexander Smith
