CONGRATULATIONS
Mr. Walter White, our long time Strings teacher, has achieved an amazing milestone. He has been working on his doctorate and completed all course work to finish in December. We celebrated his accomplishment at our January 23 staff development day. We are proud to have Dr. Walter White as part of the Mariner Family. Great job Dr. White!!!
Mr. Mortensen's 7th Grade Science
Mr. Mortensen's 7th grade students were using their knowledge of endothermic and exothermic chemical reactions to create a way to make ice cream. They used the engineering design process to identify a problem, investigate a solution, imagine a solution, and finally plan and test a prototype. They will now perfect their design for one final attempt on Monday. Science and ice cream is a great combination!!!
Mr. Hardy's 7th Grade Social Studies
Mr. Hardy's Social Studies classes have been learning about how the US Constitution came about and why it is so important for our country. After learning about our forefathers and how they crafted the document, his 7th graders were then tasked with creating a class constitution following the same ideas and rules used to create that of our country. Students learned the essential components of the constitution and, in groups, created a class constitution to present.
Middle School Basketball
Lyon Middle School basketball teams continued the winter season this past week going 1-1. Both the girls and boys lost at Hughes Middle School and beat Swainston Middle School at home on Thursday. Next week is a full slate of games with two home games and one on the road. Good luck to our teams!!! Go Mariners!!!
