Weekly Update
Our spring conferences are approaching. Your child's teacher will be in contact if they feel your child needs more supports to be on track to meet end of year standards. Not all students will need a conference this time. If you want to meet with your child's teacher at anytime throughout the year, please let them know.
On March 15th, our district will have the annual STEAM Event. If you child is interested in creating a project for the event, please fill out the Registration link here. Here is another link with information: http://tiny.cc/whiteriversteam Registration ends on the 22nd.
Just a reminder that Heelys are not allowed at school. They are unsafe for students on campus. Thank you for understanding.
Our Lost and Found is filling up again. We will have the lost and found out front during the first week in March. If you think your child has lost something, you are welcome at any time to come look through it.
Thank you, and have a great week!
Shoebox Donations needed
Our STEAM program is in need of shoeboxes for an upcoming project. If you have any shoeboxes laying around, please send them in. Thank you!!
Attendance Works
Here are some important terms we use:
An unexcused absence is when a student is absent from school, and the parent or guardian has not called to inform the school of the reason for the absence. An excused absence is when a student is absent from school, and you communicate with the office.
Zones of Regulation
This week we will work on identifying which tool work for each student in each zone. IN each zone, we may need a different tool. We will work to have student fill their "toolbox" will the tools that support them when they are in each zone. Talk with your child about their favorite tools. A tool doesn't need to be an object. Knowing how to use a breathing strategy such as lazy or 6 sided breathing can be a great tool for the red zone or the yellow zone.
Resilience
Our character trait of the month for February is Resilience.
Resilience means:
- The ability to bounce back when things are challenging
- When things are hard, but you can take a minute to reset and try again
- Having the ability to see setbacks or failures as part of the learning process
- Being willing to take academic risks to grow.
