Sequoia Families,

I hope all of our Sequoia families are surviving the new "Shelter-In-Place Restrictions". Our goal while students are on this extended break is to provide "Learning Opportunities" for all students. Make sure your student is logging into Google Classroom and checking their MDUSD email on a regular basis.

Below are several updates to help keep you informed.

Sequoia Middle School Updates:

As of 4 pm today, Sequoia Middle School is closed down for the foreseeable future. We will continue to communicate with our families as soon as updates are available.

Teachers will be closing out the 3rd Quarter grading term this week and grades will be submitted by next Tuesday. Please be patient with our teachers as they work through missing or late work. When we return we will make things right.

Remote Learning:

Teachers this week will be reaching out to all students to support them in creating meaningful "Remote Learning" opportunities. Please make sure your student is checking their MDUSD email and google classroom on a daily basis to stay caught up. Please have your student contact their teacher directly through email to address questions. Our teachers are committed to supporting your student during this extended break from school.

Sequoia PE:

From the PE Department, students are asked to create a daily log of fitness activities. They are suggesting that all students do a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity every day.

Please see attachment below for additional guidance.

Free Community Meals:

We are proud to provide free community meals for all children 18 years and younger. Please see the attached flyers for a list of locations:

Counseling Support:

The SMS counseling department can be reached during the shelter-in-place period via email. Angela Stewart can be reached at and Nathan Cormier-Knopp (Mr. CK) can be reached at Email communication will be monitored during regular school hours and responded to as soon as practically possible.

8th Graders going to Concord High School:

We need to gather information from you!!! This is an important time of the year where we normally visit the middle schools and collect your course cards for next year. However, due to the recent school closure mandate, we will not be able to do this in the time frame that we need to do it in. As a result, we have created a google doc for students to complete for their course requests for high school. It is VERY important that we are able to collect as much information as possible from students. EVEN IF YOU DON'T THINK YOU ARE COMING TO CONCORD HIGH, PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM!!
