Inservice Week
The staff at Phillips was busy with training and planning during our eight days of Inservice. The highlight of the week was the Team Olympics provided by Group Dynamix. All staff were divided into 6 teams and competed in fun group activities. Staff dressed in color and everyone participated. It was a great stress reliever and team building event!
T-TESS Goal Setting meetings
Mrs. Russell and myself are busy meeting with our 38 teachers during these first three weeks of school to discuss their own personal T-TESS goal. Each teacher selects a goal according to an area of teaching they want to improve. Many of the goals originated from their evaluations last year. Each teacher will monitor their success with their goal throughout the year and will bring evidence of its completion at their end of the year summative conference.
Hurricane Harvey relief efforts
Phillips is having a coin drive to benefit the American Red Cross. Students have been so generous. Many students have emptied their piggy banks to help other Texas students just like themselves. Our first character words of the week have been kindness and empathy. We announce our word of the week on the announcements each day and even select our "Who's that Lion" students for displaying these qualities. Students are getting real life lessons on what these words mean and how to put them into action.
