Making Memories

What we will be learning in November

In ELA, during the month of November, we will be writing small moment stories (personal narratives). We will also be focusing on higher level thinking skills while reading, like summarization, making inferences, and visualizing what's happening in the story. We will continue to have weekly spelling tests. Below is the week and unit that we will be studying. Also listed is the word of the week that we will be focusing on in class.

Nov 1st: Long u/silent e; demolish

Nov. 10th: ee/ea; despise

Nov 17th: ai/ay; discard

Nov. 24th: no spelling this week; none

In Math, students will be working with money. They will need to understand the following big ideas:

  • A collection of coins have a value or equivalent worth
  • Responsible money management
  • Time can be measured to the nearest minute

Social Studies will also be taught during this time. Students will be learning the value of work. They will explain how work provides income to purchase goods and service and address the roles of producers and consumers in the production of goods and services.
