Happy Holidays
This is the time of year when many of us are celebrating holiday traditions. No matter the tradition we celebrate, an important aspect of our holiday season is coming together as families and communities. The Eastin Staff wishes everyone a Happy Holiday Season. We hope you enjoy your vacation time, whether spent at home or traveling, lots of rest, and excellent food.

2018-2019 State Testing Results - ELA
Our Eastin students in grades 3-5 continue to outperform the state when taking the Smarter Balanced Tests for both English Language Arts and Mathematics. Overall, students in the state of California scored 3 points below standard for ELA compared to 48 points above standard for Eastin Students.
2018-2019 State Testing Results - Math
Our Eastin students in grades 3-5 continue to outperform the state when taking the Smarter Balanced Tests for both English Language Arts and Mathematics. Overall, students in the state of California scored 33.5 points below standard for Math compared to 37.8 points above standard for Eastin Students.
English Learner Progress
Our Eastin English Learner students in grades 3-5 continue to outperform the state when taking the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC). Overall, 48.3% of English Learner students in the state of California are making progress towards English Language proficiency compared to 64.7% of Eastin students.
Academic Engagement
Due to the strike in Spring of 2019, our Chronic Absenteeism Data increased significantly. The definition of Chronic Absenteeism is a student who is absent 10 percent or more of the instructional days they were enrolled. Eastin's Chronic Absenteeism rate was 40.1% compared to the state at 10.1% in 2018-2019. In a typical year, Eastin's Chronic Absenteeism rate is less than 5%.
Conditions and Climate
Our Eastin students in grades K-5 continue to have fewer suspensions when compared with the state average. Overall, 3.4% of K-12 students in the state of California were suspended at least one time in the 2018-2019 school year, compared to 0.1% of Eastin students.

School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
The School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) is meant to consolidate all school-level planning efforts into one plan. The SPSA is developed in collaboration with the school staff, Site Leadership Team and School Site Council.

2020 - 2023 District Goals and Action Initiatives
At the December 10, 2019 school board meeting, the NHUSD School Board approved updated District Goals and Action Initiatives that will officially be in place with the start of next school year.
Here is a summary of the goals:

Enrollment for 2020-2021 School Year Begins January 6th
