How can families be involved in hiring the Superintendent?
The Mankato Area Public Schools ISD 77 School Board has contracted with School Exec Connect, a superintendent search firm, to assist with the search for a new superintendent. Board members want you to be informed of the process that we will be following as we conduct the search for a new superintendent. Additionally, we hope that you will give your input to assist us in making the best selection possible.
To begin the process, the School Exec Connect consultants will meet with board members, school staff, parents, students and community members individually and in focus groups over the next couple of weeks to determine the challenges, strengths, goals of our district and what characteristics or skills you would like to see in our next superintendent.
You may choose to give your confidential feedback by accessing the Mankato Area Public Schools ISD 77 website at www.isd77.org and completing the online feedback form. All replies will be confidential. Please submit feedback no later than February 26.

What's the Wax Museum?
What's important for Science Fair and Interest Fair participants and parents to know about the upcoming fair?
- The fair is quickly approaching, hopefully you've started working on the project. If not, it is not too late! Get started now!!!
- The Science and Interest Fair will be held on Thursday, February 28 in the lower gym. Students will be able to set up their projects between 7:40 -8:10. Parents CAN help with this if they'd like.
- Setting your project up on a card table is ideal, but is NOT required. You have to supply your own table if you choose to use one.
- Public Viewing will be 2:40-3:15 and the Awards Ceremony will be at 3:15, and this usually lasts about 15 minutes. All projects will be taken down after the ceremony.
- Science and Interest Fair boards are available for purchase in Mrs. Kopischke's room for $2.50.
- All participating students attended an informational meeting this past Wednesday. They should have brought an informational/FAQ sheet home. A sample judging sheet is on the back side as well.
- If you have any questions, please ask! Mrs Kopischke - mkopis1@isd77.org or Mrs. Fugazzi - tfugaz1@isd77.org

What events are happening for 'I Love to Read' month?
All Month: Scholastic Book Giveaway
Save all the 400 Club Bookmarks turned in during the month of February. At the end of the month, each classroom will draw one winner who will receive $10 to spend on a Scholastic book order.
All Month: Drop Everything and Read (DEAR)
One day each week will be a “Drop Everything and Read” day. Students will be told during morning announcements if it is a DEAR day. If it is they will need to carry a book with them all day (not lunch/recess). When the announcement is made on the intercom, they will stop whatever they are doing and read for a time determined by their teacher.
Friday, February 15: Barnes and Noble Gift Card Drawing
Sometime before this day, give each of your students one ticket for every bookmark they have turned in. Teachers will bring all of their class tickets to the office and put them in the jar and ten students will be drawn to win a $10 Barnes and Noble gift card. Gift cards will be announced and delivered on Monday, February 18.
Thursday, February 21: Traveling Treasure Box
Teachers will pick two students that will earn a prize from the Treasure Chest.

When are Box Tops for Education due?
To count toward the spring classroom competition, Box Tops for Education need to be turned into your child's classroom teacher by Tuesday, Feb. 19. More information about the Box Tops for Education program went out via PeachJar earlier this week. Box Tops can be submitted in a ziploc bag or attached to a sheet of paper with no more than 25 attached to each sheet. The two winning classes will be announced later this month and will get to pick the school-wide theme days in March and April.
When do you need my Milk Moola lids and labels?
We need them immediately. Kwik Trip's Milk Moola program ended as of 12/31/18 and PTO only has a few more weeks to count and submit any lids or labels for funds. Please turn drop in collection bin across from office or give to classroom teacher.
What's this big change regarding Spring Photos?
You must pre-order to have your child’s picture taken on Tuesday, February 26. Based on parent and staff feedback, photo packages will no longer automatically go home. You must order online or return payment with the order form that went home earlier this week. The good news with this change is that you won’t have to pay for a photo package because your child popped out the luggage tag on the way home. Lifetouch has a satisfaction guarantee, so they will work with you if you’re not happy with how the photo turned out, so it's safer to have them taken if you are interested. To order online go to mylifetouch.com and enter Picture Day ID: MI618580Y0,
Want a free night of family fun on March 1?
PTO will show the movie, Free Willy, on Friday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Franklin Auditorium. Auditorium doors open for seating at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 6:30. Bring a comfy chair and/or blankets and a water bottle with a lid. PTO will furnish the movie and a bag of popcorn for FREE to all who attend.
This is not a drop-off event, and adult must be present during the movie. Please use door #9 off E Lafayette Street to enter the school.
Candy will be available to purchase for 25 cents or your family can bring your own movie candy or treats.
