DENR-7 issues over 8,000 agricultural patents in Central Visayas

CEBU CITY, July 23 (PIA) -- The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-7 has, to date, achieved 41% of its target for agricultural patents issuance and 72% for residential patents in Central Visayas.
DENR-7 reported issuing a total of 8,277 agricultural patents covering about 3,201.8970 hectares, or 41% of their target 19,950 patents for agriculture.
For residential patents, DENR-7 issued 1,889 or 72% of the 2,600 residential patents target. READ MORE
Talisay City willing to negotiate over SRP dispute with Cebu City

CEBU CITY, July 24 (PIA) -- Talisay City government is willing to go back to the negotiating table over the land dispute issue with Cebu City.
Talisay City newly-elected Mayor Johnny de los Reyes said he is willing to negotiate and reach a compromise with Cebu City Mayor Micheal Rama on a dispute over certain areas of the multi-billion project, the South Road Properties (SRP).
SRP is a 300-hectare reclamation project initiated by former Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena. READ MORE

DENR-7 issues stern warning vs corrupt personnel

CEBU CITY, July 24 (PIA) --- Department of Environment and Natural Resources-7 (DENR) Regional Director Dr. Isabelo Montejo issued a stern warning against the department's officials and personnel who may be engaged in "irregular" activities particularly in the implementation of the National Greening Program (NGP).
The warning came in the heels of reports that some of DENR-7's employees are allegedly involved in corrupt activities relative to NGP's seedling production.
DENR-7 Information Officer Dr. Eddie Llamedo said these employees make money reportedly by selling the seedlings to a people's organization or to private partners who have existing contracts with the department. READ MORE
Cebu Information Officers renew dedication to be bearers of good news

CEBU CITY, July 25 (PIA) -- Public Information Officers of local government units (LGUs) in Cebu recently renewed their dedication to be bearers of good news.
More than 20 members of the Cebu Association of City and Municipal Public Information Officers (CAOCAMPIO) recently renewed their dedication to be an essential partner in efficient governance of their respective LGUs during their recent meeting held at the Cebu Capitol.
This was CAOCAMPIO's first meeting after the May elections. The city and municipal information officers were recently designated or re-designated by their new and re-elected Mayors. READ MORE

IBP Cebu, farmers group laud PNoy's SONA

CEBU CITY, July 24 (PIA) -- President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) earned praises from the legal and agricultural sector here.
Atty. Mae Elaine Bathan, Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Cebu City Chapter president, said that Pres. Aquino's program on “Matuwid na Daan” is laudable.

Three CV leaders awarded with Inang Kalikasan for Eco-Tourism

CEBU CITY, July 23 (PIA) -- Three frontliners in environmental management in the region were awarded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-7) with the “Inang Kalikasan for Eco-Tourism” in a ceremony held last week in Quezon City.
DENR-7 under the Integrated Coastal Resources Management Program (ICRMP) cited the three awardees as “Inang Kalikasan Champions” for ecotourism.
This is the first ever award bestowed upon individuals who are role models in pursuing ecotourism as an enterprise and for their determination to protect the environment through social equity. READ MORE

SUMAPI to expand membership with the law's full implementation

CEBU CITY, July 22 (PIA) -- A Kasambahay organization in Cebu is seen to expand with the full implementation of Republic Act 10396.
This as registration of Kasambahay’s in Local Government Units will be launched in Cebu City on July 28.
In the island of Mactan, where the first Filipinos headed by Datu Lapulapu, showed their resistance to foreign oppression, an organization of Kasambahays, domestic workers had been existing in the last five years. READ MORE
