Eastview Update Friday, August 28
This was an exciting week for Eastview! We continue to have many of our cocurricular activites practicing and rehearsing. Additionally, we competed in our first tennis matches and soccer games, ran our first cross country meets and participated in a virtual swimming and diving meet. All of these activities look different and at the same time, our student-athletes are competing together, representing Eastview the right way and achieving something closer to normal for them. And, we are working together within the health and safety protocols established by our Minnesota State High School League and our Minnesota Department of Health to safely and cautiously provide these experiences while ensuring everyone remains safe.
Also, earlier this week we welcomed our teachers new to Eastview High School. We have a great group of caring, passionate and creative teachers joining us this new school year and they are excited to meet their students in person and through Zoom. I am confident they will make us all better with their unique gifts they each bring to Eastview.
We continue to look forward to our Orientation Week and our first days of school. Many things are different and we are doing our very best to communicate with you information that is timely and informative for you. District 196 Approved Masks and Facecoverings
Unless an exception applies, all students, staff, and other people present indoors in school buildings and district offices or riding on school transportation vehicles are required to wear a face covering.
A face covering must be worn to cover the nose and mouth completely, should not be overly tight or restrictive, and should feel comfortable to wear. The following are included in the definition of face covering:
- Paper or disposable mask;
- Cloth face mask;
- Scarf;
- Neck gaiter;
- Bandana;
- Religious face covering; and
- Medical-grade masks and respirators
Masks that incorporate a valve designed to facilitate easy exhaling, mesh masks, or masks with openings, holes, visible gaps in the design or material, or vents are not sufficient face coverings because they allow exhaled droplets to be released into the air.
A face shield is not approved as a face covering without a mask. It is a clear plastic barrier that covers the face. A face shield does not provide the same level of protection as a face covering, and may only be used as an alternative to a face covering in certain situations. See link below for more information.
For exceptions and alternatives please review the information at the link below.
