Notes from the Principal
Thanksgiving Wish for All
Since this is our last Boone Bear Facts before our Thanksgiving Break, I would like to wish all of our Boone families a very happy Thanksgiving. During the week off, Nov. 25-29, I hope the time is spent enjoying being together with family and friends. I am astounded by just how quickly this first semester has flown by. I am amazed on a daily basis by the thoughtfulness, caring, and just plain love I see from everyone in the Boone School community. This is truly a wonderful and magical place. If home is where the heart is, then Boone is truly the biggest home in Texas!!!
Veterans Program a Huge Success
I would like to send out a thank you to all of the students, parents, and staff who contributed to make this year’s Veterans Day Recognition such a wonderful success. No event like this takes place without many hands behind the scenes helping out. From our fabulous Boone Choir, to the teachers who created such wonderful classroom lessons, to our Teaching Assistants who helped decorate and set up the cafeteria, to the office staff for getting the program ready and being available to help our visitors, and to the fabulous PTA for the Veterans Reception in the library. Most of all, a big Boone Bear thank-you to all of the Veterans who took time out of their day to be with us for this event.
Families in Nature Program Events Open for all Boone Families
I included this in our last Boone Bear Facts, but wanted to send it one more time. As part of the partnership of the Families in Nature (FIN) program with Boone this year, they would like to invite all Boone families to join all other FIN events at no cost between now and the end of the school year. Events can be found on their calendar. Interested families can register with FIN on their website and then email Jennifer Evans (jennifer@familiesinnature.org) to let her know which events they would like to attend. They are continually adding new events to the calendar so they encourage any interested families to check back regularly.
This invitation is for any of the families who attended the Pedernales Falls campout or the campus campout last spring, as well as any other families who maybe couldn't make it, but would still like to be included.
Families may also want to connect with Nature Rocks Austin, which is an incredible resource for getting families outside.
No December Parent Coffee
Due to the many events we already have on the calendar for the short three weeks we have between the Thanksgiving Break until the Holiday Break, we have decided to postpone our next Parent Coffee until January. We will send out notices and information on the new date soon.
AISD Food Services Survey
AISD’s annual food services survey will be open from Nov. 11 to Dec. 19. The survey must be completed electronically. Feedback from AISD’s school communities helps the food services team review dining preferences, as well as address suggestions for campuses—including menu selections. In the past, feedback from the survey has informed AISD’s work to create more balanced menus, featuring healthier versions of student favorites paired with new, global dishes.
The student and staff survey is available at:

Making the choice to eat school meals positively impacts all students across the district. The more students that are fed each day, the more funds are available to spend on higher quality food. We plan to increase the use of local, sustainable and clean label foods, but need student participation to help support these initiatives.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback!
Empty Toilet Paper Rolls Needed
Parents - Please save your empty toilet paper rolls. STEM day is on December 19th and 2nd grade needs them for their school-wide STEM activity. You can drop them off in the box by the front office. Thank you!

Crawford's Connections
Boone Family,
Brrrr! I hope everyone has stayed nice and warm this week!
We definitely have experienced our first very chilly days of the year this month. AISD's cold related conditions policy is followed for recess and other outside activities here at Boone. We want to make sure that all students stay healthy and warm during the winter months. The policy states:
- 50-59 degrees- Long sleeves or jacket
- 40-49 degrees-Full length pants and a coat
- 36-39 degrees-Outdoor activities limited to 15 minutes or less wearing above mentioned clothing.
Due to the current cold weather, we do have many coats, sweaters, and sweat shirts that are in the lost and found. Please feel free to come anytime and look through the rack if your child is missing an article of clothing. We want them to have their belongings for the holiday.
November is always a time of the year to take a breath, reflect, and be thankful for what we have in our lives. This year, I am very thankful for the Boone community who have welcomed me so kindly. It is a blessing everyday to be part of this school family. As I have continued to learn more about our community and get to know our students better, I know for sure, I made the right choice to begin my administration journey here. I am beyond grateful.
However you are planning on spending our time off, please know, I hope it is a wonderful and restful time spent with your family and friends.
Take Care!

National PTA Survey
We had 52 responses to the National PTA survey. Thank you to those who took the time to share your opinions. We will be analyzing the results so we can continue to support parents and staff alike going into 2020.
In March, we'll conduct the same survey again to see what progress we have made. There will be an optional open field for additional comments. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact any of the PTA Board members with comments, questions, and concerns.
