Rethink the Pink
Shifting from Awareness to Prevention...and a special offer!
What Breast Cancer means to Beautycounter.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While you’ll find the symbol on everything from cocktail shakers to cosmetic products, the most important message—that of prevention—often gets short shifted. We think the conversation needs to shift, starting now.
Increasingly, science is pointing to environmental links to this disease. In 2010, the President’s Cancer Panel found that the true burden of non-genetic, environmentally induced cancer has been “grossly underestimated,” and a recent project by 300 international scientists concluded that even chemicals that are not carcinogenic on their own may be linked to cancer when used in combination with each other, even in very low doses.
A pretty pink offer just for you.
Last month I did a pop-up Beautycounter Social to help support a friend with Breast Cancer (she didn't really now we were doing this) and we invited other friends. Then we picked out and gave all the hostess rewards to her so she could have some new clean products. I also donated a portion of my commission on all sales that day to purchase a grocery gift card for her family. That one social inspired me to do more...
2) Between now and October 11, any orders of $100 or more will receive a complimentary Beautycounter Lip Gloss in Peony, from me. The lip gloss will be sent separately from your order, and I will connect with those who make a qualifying purchase.
3) When you sign up as a Band of Beauty Member (our loyalty program), or as new Beautycounter Consultant, you can allocate your $10 to the Breast Cancer Fund on the spot!
The Breast Cancer Fund is one of our three Trusted Non-Profit partners, as well as one of the few non-profit organizations dedicated to preventing breast cancer before it starts. You can learn more about them here.
I finally gave up on toxic daily deodorant/antiperspirant!
I usually run hot (Todd calls me a natural furnace) and I sweat. FULL TRANSPARENCY: I used to be a clinical strength deodorant user. I was trying to find a replacement deodorant but I never found anything that worked. Instead I decided to go a month without using anything. NOTHING! It was scary, but I did it and little by little I discovered that I didn't need to wear it everyday. I now only use my new clean deodorant a few times a week such as when I have an event. I don't use it when I work out after all your suppose to sweat...its natural remember!! I didn't do the full detox that is listed in the link below, I just decided to stop using it and wore nothing, pretty simple. Best part my skin doesn't have to absorb any more carcinogens!
