March Madness Book Bracket

A March Madness style bracket has been created with the books that have the highest circulation rates. The voting is currently down to the final 4 books. Check the library page to vote. The winning book will be selected the 8th of April. The winner will be posted on the library page.

Spring Book Fair

The spring Book Fair will be open for students starting on March 31st. The Book Fair will be open after school until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5th, and Wednesday, April 6th, and closing at the end of the school day on Thursday, April 7th. Hope to see you! March Lunch Bunch

The March Lunch Bunch was held on the 18th. More than 100 students participated in the event. Students attending played a variety of basketball themed games.

Author Visit!

New York Times Best Selling author L.M. Elliott will visit our school to speak to all students on April 19th. If you would like your student to have a book signed by the author or to order books for gifts, please complete and return the form with payment to your student’s Language Arts teacher by April 11th. Ms. Elliott will sign each book.

Book Recommendations

Library Lessons this month

The library was used for the 8th grade writing SOL for most of March. This meant the library was closed most of the month.

The library took a cart of books to many classes for checkout and return in the classroom. Lessons were taught on presentation creation, website evaluation, database use and more. Materials were also gathered to help teachers with topics of study.

Virginia Readers' Choice Reading Promotion

Students who read a VRC book and fill out a form will be entered in a drawing for prizes each month.

Students who read 4 or more will be eligible to attend the voting party in the spring.

The VRC voting party will be help April 11th. Students need to turn in their 4 VRC forms by April 8th to be eligible for the party.

Rippon Reading Challenge

Students are encouraged to read 10 books per quarter. Those who complete this challenge and fill out the associated paper will win a prize. Students may get the challenge forms from their language arts teachers, from the library or on the library Fusion page. Completed forms should be returned to the library

Prince William County Public Library Resources

Students with a library card from the PWC public library have access to nearly 20 additional databases. In order to access these, a valid library card must be entered.

Students who would like a public library card may request one through the school library.
