Rock The vote

History of voting!
After we declared our independence in 1776, we were able to make our own laws. Voting is a way to do that in a fair manner. However you could only vote if you owned land, were white, and a man. That is until after the civil war when slaves were freed. all men could vote after that. Woman resisted and in 1980 the 19th amendment allowed woman to vote. The age requirement for war was 18, but for voting it was 21. In 1971 the age requirement for voting went from the age 21 to 18, Because if they can fight for their country, they should be able to vote.
Why do we want to vote?
We want to vote because we want to have a say in things. We want our opinion to matter to our country's decisions. If we want to get a certain president then it is our vote to make. We were given independence for a reason. We rebelled against britain for a reason. So we could vote for what we want. Not so the kings opinion matters, but everyones. If we don't make the decision ourselves, then we will have to be ruled by a monarchy. It's your vote you decide what you want to do with it.
