Monroe Eagles and Families,
November greetings to you and your family! As we enter this third month of the school year, we already over twenty-percent of the way through the 2021/2022 school year. We have come a long way together since early September and we are thrilled with the many successes we have already experienced. This week, we truly valued your time in meeting for our fall parent/teacher conferences. November is also the traditional start to the coming holiday season. Please take a look below at our forthcoming dates specific to designated holidays.

November is recognized nationally as Native American Heritage Month. In addition, it is also Indigenous Heritage Month, National American Indian Month, and Alaska Native Heritage Month. Together, this month provides us with an opportunity to collective learn, honor, and celebrate the diversity and ingenuity of Indigenous cultures and achievements.
This is a month dedicated to listening to Indigenous stories and voices as we seek to honor the past, present, and future of Native Americans locally, across our state, and throughout our region and nation. Along with opportunities in our classrooms, we will seek to honor the First Peoples of North America and Alaska through our Monroe Mornings (morning announcements). In doing so, we will learn about leaders (past and present) and the incredible resilience of Indigenous families and communities.
Furthermore, we will pay special attention to the Indigenous communities associated with our state. We will start with the Coast Salish people as our Monroe campus in on the traditional lands of the Coast Salish here in Everett. Please check-in to our school website as we learn together across this month of November.
This month, each school within the Everett Public Schools will be hosting our own version of the monthly Let’s Connect meetings. These meetings will be tiered to allow elementary schools to meet from 5:00pm to 5:45pm followed by middle and high schools from 6:00pm to 6:45pm. We would like to invite you to join us digitally for this opportunity to come together and discuss, as a school community, what has gone well this year and in what ways our school should improve. Please consider joining us as we seek to celebrate, learn, and grow together.
