Chippewa Falls Middle School
April 2021
From the Principal
Dear CFMS Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to April! Starting the week of April 5th we will be in school five days a week. We are hopeful that the health of our community and schools will continue to allow us to finish out the school year this way. Our students are doing a great job with mask wearing and following mitigation procedures at school - thank you!
We are moving right along with our Wisconsin Forward state test! Our remaining tests include:
8th Grade Science: April 12 - 14
6th Grade Math: April 19 - 21
7th Grade Math: April 26 - 28
8th Grade Math: May 3 - 5
Our school district's mega result is: Students will graduate prepared to succeed in post-secondary education and careers, having the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors necessary to achieve their personal goals and contribute to the common good. Our staff at CFMS are dedicated to ensure that this is happening for all of our students, and seeing this happen is what inspires me to come to work each day and work hard for all of our students, staff, and families.
As always, if you have questions or wish to discuss your child, please do not hesitate to contact any one of the great staff members with whom your child works.
In Partnership With You,
Derrick Kunsman
Principal
LEAVING SCHOOL EARLY?
Parents, if you need to have your child leave school early, please
Call the Attendance Line and leave a message that morning if possible.
Students can then pick up their pass in the Grade Level Office that day.
The passes are organized by the students last name.
When it’s time for the student to leave, they will show their pass to Ms. Fixmer in the Main Office and then wait inside until they see their ride pull up. When their ride shows up, they will let Ms. Fixmer know before they leave the building.
Please park by Door #2 (by the flagpoles) so your child can see you.
Parents do not need to come inside the school to check their child in or out.
If you are bringing your child in late, please still call the attendance line to let them know you are doing so.

SCHOOL COMMUNICATION
Please make sure that Infinite Campus information is up to date and includes a list of people to contact in case a child needs to be picked up during the school day.
The Chippewa Falls Middle School primarily communicates with parents and/or guardians electronically. All parents and guardians who receive school information electronically must have their parent portal in Infinite Campus set up in order to access report cards, schedules, homework assignments, grades, attendance, fee statements, etc. We are pleased to offer parents this opportunity to be more active in their child’s education.
If you do not have your parent portal account setup, please click here. We discourage the use of your child’s account as you won’t have access to the necessary information you may need or want.
Please make sure that your e-mail address is kept current at all times on the parent portal. You may update your email address at any time by selecting Contact Preferences on the parent portal menu. If at any time during the school year you lose the ability to access the internet, please notify the appropriate grade level office immediately so that we can make the necessary adjustments to our database.
You can also make lunch account, registration and athletic fee payments in the Infinite Campus Portal. There will be no convenience fees added. If you need help, call our help desk at 715-726-2413 for assistance.
Feed My People - Weekend Kid's Meals
FEED MY PEOPLE - WEEKEND KID'S MEALS
The Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District is happy to offer the Weekend Kid’s Meals Program. This program is offered in partnership with Feed My People Food Bank. The purpose of the program is to provide food for children during the weekend when school breakfasts and lunches are not available.
There are no income guidelines or requirements. Anyone who is in Head Start or is a K-12 student is welcome to get food for the weekend. The food is at NO COST to you or your child. This is a separate program in addition to the district’s free lunch and breakfast program.
The food bag will include enough food for breakfast and lunch for a child for Saturday and Sunday, plus snacks and fresh fruit.
The meals have not been screened for different allergies; therefore, parents are responsible for determining if this program meets your child’s dietary and health needs.
Protocol for contact tracing, quarantine, and isolation purposes:
In collaboration with the Chippewa County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) and in accordance with CDC, WI DHS, and WIAA guidelines, we will be utilizing the following protocol for contact tracing, quarantine, and isolation purposes upon return to in-person settings:
For students, the CFAUSD will continue to follow the 14-day quarantine, this remains the safest option for our students, as bussing and school settings cannot wholly accommodate for the 6 feet distance rule at all times - this aligns with medical and legal recommendations.
If your child has tested positive for Covid-19 s/he may return to school after isolation when:
*10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared AND
*Improvement of symptoms and fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever- reducing medication
If students are considered a close contact and have had Covid-19 within the last 90 days, proof of a positive test result will be needed to exempt them from the quarantine period.
Additionally, WIAA recommends the 14-day quarantine before competition. No shorter time quarantine for any athletes even if separated from the team.
As a reminder to all:
Mask/face covering mandate remains in effect until further notice.
Do not send children to school sick and follow the management of Covid-19 symptoms guidelines, click here for a copy of those guidelines.
Students that get sick at school, will need to be picked up from school promptly and follow the management of Covid-19 symptoms guidelines.
If anyone in your household is waiting for the results of a Covid-19 test, any student(s) in the household should not come to school pending results.
If any family members are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19, any student(s) in the household should not come to school until the family member is cleared with an authorized medical note or official evidence of a negative Covid-19 test
Greetings from the STAR organization!!!
STAR members have been busy making 15 "feeling" blankets to donate to children in the CLIMB (Children's Lives in Moments of Bravery) Program. The “feeling” blankets are used as a way to non-verbally share feelings with their loved ones battling cancer.
