Glen Lake News for Staff
September 3-6, 2019
Because Our Students Deserve it!
This student is holding onto the memories of last year. He wants a fresh start and a new beginning. It is our job to give him, and all of our students, that fresh start.
If you offer moments of student voice and choice, and provide our students with an atmosphere to explore and take risks, rather than to comply, then we are on our way of achieving Vision 2031 at Glen Lake.
MAKE IT A MEMORABLE FIRST DAY!
Expectations for Staff
Make ALL students and families feel safe and welcomed: Glen Lake is a special place, one where many families feel connected and welcomed. We can never take this for granted, and we always need to make a conscious effort to be inclusive to all. Friendly greetings, encouraging notes, positive phone calls home, and listening to understand are efforts we can take to make ALL our families feel welcomed.
Greet students at the door: This interaction, no matter how short, is POWERFUL. It sets the tone for the day and shows our students we are happy to see them. Please prioritize this over making that final adjustment to your lesson plan, as I believe this effort will have a greater impact on student learning.
Building Hours: Our common building hours for staff is 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. The effort and countless hours put forth by all of you is undeniable. To ensure cohesiveness, it is very important that we are working together during the common hours. I also understand life happens, so if there are times when you need to arrive after 8:00 am or leave prior to 4:00 pm, please notify me so I am aware.
Parking: Full time staff are expected to park in the staff parking lot. The front loop parking spots are reserved for our families for morning drop-off, Kaleidescope, and afternoon pick-up. Please see below exceptions to this expectation:
- teachers that are traveling between buildings can park in front loop to maximize prep time
-teachers that have front loop and bus duty can park in the front loop the week they are on duty.
