Welcome Back Woodmont Families!
Welcome back to the 2020 school year! We know during this pandemic our lives are different, but our teachers and staff are ready to welcome our scholars and families in the remote classroom. Thunderbird Voices: scholar advisory application
The voices of our scholars are critical in our work.
We are now accepting applications for our Principal Scholar Advisory. As we move into a new reality for the fall, scholars will meet with Principal Kocher and Assistant Principal Fisk twice per month over Zoom to discuss current data, provide their insights, and will additionally have the opportunity to lead school-wide virtual assemblies. Once we are no longer remote, these duties will continue in the traditional modality as appropriate.

Title I Notification
Did you know Woodmont receives Title I Funding from our federal government?
This funding is designed to provide equity of opportunity for all scholars and helps us to customize our instruction to help all our scholars meet academic standards. You will hear more about Title I during our parent and family engagement opportunities throughout the year.
It is the goal of Woodmont to establish and build upon quality collaborative relationships with each family. We recognize that parent involvement has been proven to be one of the top indicators of scholar academic success. Woodmont's School – Scholar – Family Compact outlines our commitments to each other in a joint partnership for all scholars’ success. We review this plan annually through our Site Leadership Team and Parent Input.
At any time, you may contact me at skocher@fwps.org, to ask questions about our program and how we are supporting all of our scholars or to request more information regarding the qualifications of your scholar’s teacher and/or paraeducators. We welcome this proactive communication. However, if you have a complaint about our program after speaking with me, please contact our main office which will forward you information on OSPI’s Federal Program complaint procedures.
This year, in addition to our Open House, other Parent events, volunteer opportunities, connecting with families through our counselor and family liaison, and our Kindergarten readiness program, we are committing to the following activities:
• Initiating a Parent Voice Elevation Program which meets with the Principal on a bi-monthly basis to learn about what is happening within the school and provide community wisdom
• Providing effective and timely communication through multiple modalities, including Facebook and Phone Calls, regarding events and other opportunities for engagement
Thank you for entrusting us with the care and education of your scholar and for partnering with us for their success.
