Spring Updates in the LRC!
Hi, Field Community!
I hope that this taste of spring weather has been finding you well. In my house we are loving the warmer weather and the staying lighter longer! Congratulations to the parents who were in the V-Show. My kids and I really enjoyed the show, especially the princess Leia dancers. My kids are still talking about them and the dinosaur.
There has also been so many new wonderful books popping up this spring that the Field library has been a buzz with new titles. Did you know that you and your readers can browse our catalog from home? Click here and you can see what our most popular books are, as well as recently added books. Students in grades 3-5 can even log in on their Chromebooks and put books on hold! If you think our library needs a specific book, don't hesitate to reach out and share the title with me.
As I'm sure you know, we submitted our votes for the Monarch and Bluestem awards with the Association of Illinois School Library Educators. We are eager to find out if we were on par with other schools in Illinois as the announce the results live this Friday. I'll be sure to update it on our library instagram page! Our favorites were Bob, Not Bob for the Monarch and Woosh, Lonnie Johnson's Super Soaking Stream of Inventions for the Bluestem. It is exciting to note that we have so many different books that students enjoyed and I'm excited about next years list as well!
As a reminder, our Book Fair will be here before you know it! The dates for the book fair at Field are April 22nd-April 26th. I've been working with PTO and the Screen Free Week Committee and am super excited about the awesome family literacy night kick off that is in the works. I hope we can get a lot of family participation. Thanks in advance for your consideration. All purchases will directly benefit our library and our readers.
Lastly, You will find that we have Spring Break Reading Bingo linked below. We are excited for another reading challenge and are hoping to increase participation from the winter. Please make sure your child writes their name on their card AND has their homeroom # on it as well. One more twist for this round, for each picture that is either emailed to me or physically brought in for our reading BINGO bulletin board, students can earn an additional raffle ticket! Show us your reading, Field School!
Have an amazing spring break, Field School!

About the Library Information Specialist
Currently, I'm reading Zoe and Sassafras Monsters and Mold with my 5 year old. She just loves Zoe and Sassafras and I love this chapter book that mixes science with wonder. I'm also reading the Magician's Elephant by Kate DiCamillo, one of my most favorite children's authors. I'm hoping to read a huge stack on the beach over spring break! :)
