Principal's Message
Dear Hallinan Families,
Hallinan students are amazing and gifted, which they prove on a daily basis. I enjoy watching them conquer challenging things especially through collaboration. Over the past week, I worked with a group of students who agreed to present to the LO School Board at their meeting this past Monday. They demonstrated their speaking abilities and creativity as they lead a tour of our beautiful building and spoke about the student experience at Hallinan. They also lead the Board in an interactive activity creating scribble stones. If you don't know what a scribble stone is, it's a way for children - and adults - to express themselves in a positive and fun way by drawing on stones. We used this opportunity to teach that everyone has a why, or a purpose; and, we encouraged our artists to communicate their "why" through their stone. Mary Kay Larson, Director of Communications, took some photos that I have shared below.
with gratitude for all of our outstanding students,
Melissa Griffiths

HOPES Halloween Candy Donations
That’s a wrap! We collected 141 pounds of candy which we donated to the Tualatin School House Pantry! Some classes wrote letters to active military members in honor of Veteran’s Day. Those will be mailed out in care packages from our friends at Operation Gratitude.
HOPES Doernbecher Children's Hospital
For the 7th year, HOPES will be providing decorations to transform the 10N floor of Doernbecher. This year our theme is the Grinch! While children are not allowed on the floor to decorate (due to cold/flu precautions), your student(s) may have the opportunity to work on projects in class next week that will be used on the floor. Stay tuned for pictures!
