The Three-Fifths Compromise

The Northern and Southern states argue about slavery

Should slaves be included in the states population?

Slaves are supposedly considered lower than humans, but if we want representation, shouldn't we include them in our population? After all, they because we have so many, it will certainly increase our representation in congress, greatly. But, the northern states don't have as many slaves, which would wouldn't be too fair, because of the great difference between the numbers. So, the two groups of states decided on a compromise (the two groups took both of their ideas, and combined their ideas, in a way that made sense), and it was called the three-fifths compromise. In basic terms, the three-fifths compromise conveyed the message of slaves being a little more than half of a person.
