Dealey Dragon Update

October 15 , 2021

Message from the Principal

Good Afternoon,

Yesterday afternoon there were about 30 protesters in front of Dealey. None of these protesters were Dealey families, staff or students, and none of them seemed to have any connections or knowledge of our school. I was hurt by what I read on the signs that they carried, and I was angered that the protesters would endanger our students by protesting during the school day.

I was also inspired by how our students, staff and families responded. Families posted signs of support on our yard and in their car windows, our community sent food, and treats to our staff, and we received countless emails supporting our staff and students. Our staff worked together to adjust our systems and communication to keep our students and each other safe. Everyone came together in support of our school.

After a safe dismissal, I watched the handful of remaining protesters from the window in my office, and I thought “these people have no idea who we are”. But we know who we are.

We live our Mission.

We are guided by our Core Values in all of our decisions and actions.

We are the best public Montessori school in the state of Texas.

We are the flagship and exemplar Montessori in Dallas ISD.

We are the 4th best Middle School in the state of Texas (Hub Article)

We had over 700 applicants test to try to join our community each year.

We have a staff that believes that learning is living and kids come first.

We have a community that believes that education is the greatest weapon for Peace.

We have students, families and staff that love our school.

We are Dealey.

Ms. Winners is a constant source of support for my 8th grader! We are so grateful to her! Mr. Cherryholmes has been very patient and communicative with my son, helping him to get supports in place with his other teachers and is a great Advisor that has my kid excited to come to school. Thanks to both!Stephanie Kirkham

Mr. Mazur My kiddos get so excited for Art Class. We love hearing and seeing what they learn each week. Their enthusiasm for art is contagious. Thank you Mr. Mazur for inspiring our kids to create and appreciate beauty each week.Sammie Cho

Mrs. Parks’ dedication to her students is evident in all she does. She recently had to be away from school and went above and beyond making herself available to her students. My child feels loved, challenged and seen in her class. It is so heartwarming to see their connection. Thank you Mrs. Parks for your devotion to our kiddos. We adore you.Sammie Cho

We don't have to agree on anything to be kind to each other!
