Impacting Student Behavior
Strategies to Move Your School from Helplessness to ACTION!
Share in the experiences of practitioners who have sought answers to the unanswerable questions regarding the growing issue of student behavior. This presenter team consists of a teacher/counselor, a behavior specialist, an elementary principal, and a secondary principal. They will spend the day sharing their journey by sharing books and resources, ideas to help improve productivity/compliance in struggling students, student activities and, best of all, experiences and lessons learned. They are NOT the experts and they want participants to know it. They are educators on the front lines doing all they can to help students learn and in the spirit of collaboration are willing to share when asked to do so. Takeaways include:
- The changing family dynamic
- Trauma - What is it? How does it affect students? What does it look like in the classroom?
- How a PBIS model can help with behavior
- Strategies for creating a trauma-sensitive classroom
- Strategies for dealing with difficult students’ behaviors
- Personal stories of success when using these strategies
