Introduction
Myanmar, also called Burma. Myanmar is a country in Asia. Most people that are 15 can read and write. The people of Myanmar, eat rice with mostly every meal a day. The rice is flavored with chili peppers. Myanmar is bordered by India, China, Bangladesh, Laos, Thailand, and the bay of Bengal. If you come to Myanmar, you will have the best time of your life.
Geography/Climate
Myanmar's (Burma) climate is a tropical monsoon. Strong winds come from the southwest. It rains almost everyday with thunderstorms. The dry season lasts from November to February. The hottest months is March and April. High temperatures can come up to 110 degrees. Highland areas have cooler weather.
People and Culture
Myanmar's(Burma)culture is very different. Burmese is the official language of Myanmar. English is spoken in large towns. Their modern alphabet has 33 letters. Myanmar is a union of over 100 national races.The major races are Bamar, Chin, Kachin, Shan, Kayah, Kayin, Mon and Rakhine.
Buddhism is embraced by about 80% of the population in Myanmar. Every male person is expected to temporarily don the monk's robes at least once in his lifetime, usually as a young man. All women wear neat clothing and respectful dress should be worn in all religious shrines. It's not considered polite to visit religious monuments in shorts. Drama (pwe) presentations are very popular. Also, Marionettes are famous.

About 70% works in agriculture and forestry. Fishing is also important. Myanmar also produces illegal opium in the northeast. The country also has petroleum, tungsten, tin, lead, silver, zinc, coal, copper, natural gas,and iron. Rubies, sapphires, and jade are also found. Manufacturing includes wood products, textiles, and clothing.
