Third-Person Limited Point of View
Examples from the text: Thomas almost preferred the utter dark ( we see what Thomas sees ) to being able to see what was around him. ( we see feelings of Thomas )
Characterization
" Ugly as fried liver on a stick" ( this other characters' words show that Thomas is really ugly and that the people around him aren't very kind to him )
"Another great pep talk from Thomas" (This characterization shows that Thomas must state the obvious often)
Theme
Keeping your friends close is important during the the scorch trials.
One example is during the scorch trials It would be safe to keep your friends close because without his friends, he would have gotten killed.
In addition, Without Thomas' friends he would have never made it to his destination.

Figurative Language
"Even though worry ate at him like spilled acid in his veins" (Simile shows me how worried his is about whatever is happening in the book)
"The smell of body odor hung over them" (Personification shows that he smelt terrible)
"Thick daggers of lightning struck" (Sensory Language helps me visualize the bolts coming down)
Dialogue
The dialogue that I chose to read shows the beginning of a conflict. Thomas Has just found his favorite glader, Teresa. He was super excited to find her, but then their conversation makes him the opposite of excited. This dialogue also shows characterization as to showing how much Teresa cares about Thomas by not letting him stay.
