Regional Autonomous Robotics Circuit (RARC) Competition
On November 5, several Caddo schools participated in the first RARC competition for the 2016-2017 school year. The Regional Autonomous Robotics Circuit (RARC) is a series of three competitions for students in grades 3-12. The competitions build upon one another and allow students to showcase their STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and cyber skills by competing against other students in their division (elementary school, middle school, and high school) in a series of integrated challenges. The hands-on challenges serve a dual purpose: introduce STEM concepts and their many applications and reinforce STEM fundamentals learned in the classroom.
The City of Bossier City, RARC of Northwest Louisiana co-sponsor, hosts all three competitions at the Bossier Civic Center.
We are excited to announce that Caddo students represented our district well. Below, you’ll find the results of the first RARC competition.

Code.org
Code.org has developed a curriculum that allows even the youngest students to explore the limitless world of computing - at no cost for schools. The courses blend online, self-guided and self-paced tutorials with “unplugged” activities that require no computer at all. Each course consists of about 20 lessons that may be implemented as one unit or over the course of a semester. Even kindergarten-aged pre-readers can participate. The workshop lasts 6 hours and will prepare participants to teach the Code Studio courses for grades K-8. Workshop attendees will receive a bag of Code.org swag, PD certificate, and printed curriculum guide containing course lesson plans. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion, as well as the opportunity to order classroom supplies for the unplugged activities.
Snacks and beverages will be provided. Caddo Parish Public Schools Elementary Science Department will offer 6 CLUs.
