Principal's Message

AJHS Family,

As you are aware, we had two separate incidents on Wednesday, February 15th at school. We take all incidents involving safety seriously and want to remain transparent with our school family about them. I would like to thank our school administration, district team, and the Decatur Police Department for their swift actions to help ensure the safety of our students and staff. Although no direct threats were made towards our campus or any individual, school administration was able to respond to reported information quickly and appropriately. We strive to keep our stakeholders informed and will continue to do so as effectively and efficiently as possible. Please continue to encourage your student to report anything they feel does not look, feel, or sound right.

This upcoming Monday is a remote learning day for our students (Orange Day). Teachers will provide students with assignments to complete at home, without hosting Google Meets, while they attend professional development.

Course Verifications for 2023-2024 School Year

AJHS Family,

Course Verification sheets were handed out to 8th grade students this past Friday during first block. For those that did not receive theirs, please check with your first block teacher on Tuesday morning. Students do not have to return these sheets. It is simply a step to help keep everyone informed on the courses your students registered for the 2023-2024 school year. We will be sending home Course Verifications to our current 7th graders soon.

Spread the Word

We will attempt to get information out to our students and families in many different ways. Although SchoolCast is great tool to get information out quickly, many of our stakeholders "see and forget" these messages. Please help spread the word to follow AJHS on Facebook and Instagram. I also think that many people would rather see or watch than read. FB allows us to post short video message, tutorials and announcements. Thanks!
